Towing Capacity of my 2020 Nissan Murano

Question:
Considering buying a 2020 Nissan Murano. Nissan says 1500lb towing capacity, Your hitch ion says 3500lbs. I have a 2010 Murano and towing is 3500lb capacity. Im confused. Is it because theres a need for a brake module? Thanks

If the towing capacity of your 2020 Nissan Murano is stated as 1,500 lbs. there is no way to exceed that even by adding components.
I venture a guess that they have changed something in the chassis of the newer Murano that has reduced it's towing capacity.
The hitches cover a wide year range and even though it says 3,500 lbs. we can't go past the vehicles weight capacity.
