Replacement Wheels for Old Montgomery Ward Light Duty Boat Trailer

Question:

Could you help me buy the correct product from you? I have a very old Montgomery Ward light duty boat trailer. It has a single-nut tire rim that is too rusted to reuse. The rim sits on a 1 1/4 diameter stud with a threaded end. The stud itself is 2 7/8 long. The existing tire is a 4.8 x 8 with a hub that is 3 7/8 outside to outside measured inside the rim hub. The only bearing I can identify is an LM 67048. I believe this is what is called a fixed hub integral tire and rim but I know nothing about these rims. I need the tires, rims, and bearings for both sides. Can you help me? Thank you in advance.

We can get you the # LM67048 bearing, and a replacement tire like # AM10002 for a load range B tire with a 590 lb per tire/1180 lb per axle weight rating. For a load range C tire with a 745 lb per tire/1490 lb per axle rating, use # AM10004.

The wheel is a different story. We don't offer wheels like that and honestly, I'm not sure where you'd get one. We do have some off-the-shelf axles, if you'd want to consider replacing the axle with something that uses modern hubs and wheels, I might be able to make a recommendation depending on the axle length. For instance, we offer a replacement galvanized trailer axle as part # CE33201GA that has a spring center to spring center distance of 46-1/2 inches and a hub face to hub face distance of 57-1/2 inches.

If you'd like to replace your axle, I'd be happy to make a recommendation if you could reply with your spring center and hub face dimensions.
