Comparing Aftermarket and OEM Hitches for 2020 Honda Odyssey

We have a really nice selection of hitches that are confirmed to fit your 2020 Honda Odyssey. One of the main differences between an OEM hitch and most aftermarket hitches is that a factory hitch is typically more hidden with just the receiver tube sticking out of the bottom of the bumper. However aftermarket hitch manufacturers are designing hitches to be more hidden and have that factory like look. Another difference is the cost and weight ratings between the two. OEM hitches generally are more expensive, and can be rated lower than the aftermarket hitches. Saving money and being able to tow the full amount your Odyssey can handle, are the two major benefits an aftermarket hitch has over the factory one.

I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C64NR. It's a Class III hitch, so it has a 2" receiver tube opening, which means it will have the widest variety of accessories available. The hitch has a 525 lbs tongue weight, which is great if you're going to be using it for a bike rack or cargo carrier. It can handle a large bike rack, or allow you to maximize the carrying capacity of large cargo carriers. It also has a 3500 lbs gross trailer weight rating, which is perfect for your Odyssey, I looked in the owner's manual and your 2020 Odyssey can tow up to 3500 lbs.

It has a completely hidden cross tube for a clean factory like look. Since it is hidden, the installation is a bit more involved and requires removing the rear fascia. I have installed many hitches on different year Honda Odysseys and I think the extra effort for the install is well worth the end result. Aside from better looks, the cross tube being hidden behind the bumper also helps with ground clearance. The Curt # C64NR hitch will give you about 2" more ground clearance, which definitely comes in handy when you have a bike rack or cargo carrier mounted.

If your Odyssey is equipped with the hand free lift gate sensor there is an additional piece that you will need from your local Honda dealer. When the hitch is mounted it's directly in the line of the sensor and sets it off. Honda has a sensor that will solve the issue and keep the function of the hands free lift gate and have the hitch mounted, we don't carry it but here is the part number : 08L91-THR-100A.

You will also need a product like part # PC3, part # e98880, or part # 63232 to secure the extender in your 2" trailer hitch receiver.
