How To Choose the Correct Transom Tie-Down Length

Updated 04/01/2025 | Published 11/13/2019

Question:

Its exactly 24 inches from trailer eye to transum eye on my boat. Will a 2 foot strap be long enough or do I need to go to the 4 foot model?

The BoatBuckle Kwik-Lok Transom Tie-Down Straps part # IMF13110 are 24" long from the center of each connection so if that is how much space you have between the two tie-down points then they will work. However, a better option is the BoatBuckle G2 Ratcheting Transom Tie-Down Straps part # IMF08893 which are 43" and also retractable so you don't have to worry about excess slack or not having enough strap. I have attached a list of all our transom tie-downs for you as well.

My eyelet to eyelet on trailer to boat is 20 inches. Will the IMF14206 be long enough for me?

Yes, the BoatBuckle # IMF14206 is 24" long so it'll work really well with your 20" eye to eye length.

If my eyelet to eyelet is 14" long, will the 24" long strap work for me?

@DeeC They should work but a better option would be a retractable strap like the # IMF08893 mentioned above.

@DeeC hey Dee, one of my associates actually just measured one of the 24" long straps # IMF14206. It can be cinched down to 13" so this actually would work for your 14" eye to eye. I knew it would be close but we were able to confirm :)
