Question:
Thanks for the information about the replacement. Instead of the wiring harnesses/adapters, would it be a better option to replace the 4-pin on the trailer with the plug that fits the 7-way plug on my truck.

The Demco Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuator part # DM72VR should be a direct replacement for the Atwood 61101 Brake Actuator that you have now. This newest updated it rated at 7K instead of 6K. This is a bolt on option that mounts on 3" centers. The review you are referring to, the customer did indeed weld the brake actuator to his tongue but this is not required for installation because it is a bolt-on actuator.
Unfortunately, we do no offer a bolt-on brake actuator for drum brakes with a manual lockout that will work for you therefore in order to retain a reverse lockout feature you will need to add the Reverse Lockout Solenoid part # DM11993 as well as the Hopkins Wiring Harness part # HM37918 and the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter Flat part # C57187 to the above brake actuator. This option however will prevent you from having to manually engage the reverse lockout each time.

I have the Atwood 82543 needing replacement (cylinder is bad, its vintage 1995 OEM on a Four Winns drum brake boat trailer). Your expert states the Demco 8605001 is the closest replacement and I would need to add the electric lockout T4748800. Is there a complete, electric lockout integrated Demco (or other) model you would recommend as a replacement? Thanks!
