Question:
I purchased a Kia trailer hitch from a kia dealership for a 2019 kia Sorrento V6 AWD. The factory rating is 5000 lbs total towing with 350 LBS TW weight. My question is that you offer both 350 lbs TW for 3500 and 500 TW for 5000 lbs and 750 lbs TW weight at 5000 lbs. Kia can only tell me that the max TW is only rated for the hitch not the car. However they can tell me the car can pull 5000 lbs. if we use the 10 boat trailer tw rating it should not exceed 500LBS tw

Your 2019 Kia Sorento is rated for 2,000 lbs and 200 lb tongue weight if you have the 2.4L 4-cylinder engine and 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver. If you have the 3.3L V6 then if you have the 3,500 lb towing capacity with 350 lb tongue weight if you have the 1-1/4 inch receiver and 5,000 lb and 500 lb tongue weight if you have the 2 inch receiver.
We have the Curt # C13195 and etrailer.com # e98843 trailer hitch receivers that are both rated at 750 lb tongue weight max and 5000 lb towing capacity max.
Kia rates their products just like these manufacturers - separate from the vehicle - so in this case it appears the Sorento factory hitch is not rated as high as the aftermarket hitch. As long as your trailer's loaded tongue weight doesn't exceed 500 lbs and the total weight of the loaded trailer doesn't exceed 5000 lbs, you will be within your capacities.
