Troubleshooting Brake Controller Install of 2007 Toyota Tacoma Where Controller Wont Power On
Question:
Hello, I intalled a tekonsha p2 in my 07 Tacoma using the prewired plug under the dash. I also found a good place for the ground. How ever it doesnt turn on. I have read on some forums that I may need to add a line to the fuse box as that portion was not prewired. What do you think is my next step?

The black wire of the P2 part # 90885 needs to have 12 volts ran to it to power the controller so that it will turn on. It sounds like that circuit is not active and that's why the controller isn't turning on. You can verify this with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. If it's not active it's most likely due to a blown fuse under the hood of the truck.
However, if you wanted to bypass all of that you can run a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 from that wire to the positive post of the battery through a breaker like part # 9510 and you'd be set.
