Updated 08/18/2024 | Published 08/30/2018

Question:

I’ve used th3 3v3n brake unit for a few years now with no issues. This time out I set it all up as usual and when I pushed the test test button the brake cycled 2 times and went into trouble. Failed test. I tried several times with sam3 result. Any suggestions where I should look ?

I spoke with my contact over at Roadmaster and have some things that you can check. When the Even Brake # RM-9400 pushes on the brake pedal 3 times what it is doing is making sure that it is receiving a brake signal from the cold side of the brake switch. If it does not detect the signal then it does exactly what you have described.

The brake signal it is looking for goes through terminal 1 on the Even Brake. What I would first check is that this circuit has 12 volts when the brakes are applied. If not typically it's the third brake light fuse on the vehicle that has failed and caused the problem.

I have same issue. Unit has worked flawlessly for many years. Now the red light stays solid after the 2nd cycle. I checked voltage on Term 1 and get full voltage when the brake is applied. What could be another cause?

@SidS An internal bug or short on the unit is probably the problem based on what you listed. It has voltage where it needs to be so it sounds like the unit has gone bad.
