Question:
How will this wheel hold up in saltwater compared to an aluminum or galvanized rim?

Expert Reply:
Although the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel # AM20315 has a e-coat primer and black powder coat finish, this is option is much more prone to rust over an aluminum or galvanized rim. The powder coat finish is mainly for common trailer use so it doesn't have to be as resistant since saltwater typically isn't in the equation.
When it comes to a good, better, best for saltwater resistance the powder coat doesn't really make the cut. Better is a galvanized finish like the 14" x 6" Americana # AM20364, while your best option is an aluminum wheel like the 14" x 5-1/2" HWT # AM22327. I have linked review videos for each wheel that you can check out.
No matter what wheel you end up going with, it is always good practice to rinse off your boat and trailer with freshwater to help prevent rust from the saltwater.
