Locating Replacement Hubs for Harbor Freight Trailer
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
Hey guys, I have what I believe is a Harbor Freight Trailer and I wanted to replace the hubs but I am not sure if you guys carry ones for it. From what I come up is that the axle / spindle seems to be 7/8 in diameter. Any help is much appreciated. Thank You for your time.

Most likely we have the correct hubs needed to replace the existing units on your Harbor Freight Trailer.
In order to determine which hubs you need, I recommend pulling one of the current hubs on the trailer and removing the bearings. There should be numbers stamped right inside the bearings themselves, which can be used to find the right replacement hub. If you cannot read the numbers, you can also take a few different measurements along the spindle where the bearings sit. You will need to use a digital caliper like # PTW80157, as the measurements need to be exact. I have attached an image that shows where the measurements will be taken.
In addition to finding the bearings that the hubs use, you will also want to verify the axle capacity on the trailer along with the bolt pattern for the hubs so that the new ones will match your existing wheels. I have attached an article that explains how to measure your bolt pattern if you are unsure.
For example, the etrailer.com Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-440-2-2K that you were looking at uses the # L44649 bearing (1.063 inner diameter) for both the inner and outer bearing, is designed for use with 2,000 pound axles, and features a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern.
If you can tell me the above measurements or numbers, I will be happy to recommend replacement hubs that will work perfectly on the trailer. Otherwise, I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of trailer hubs along with a couple great articles on the subject that you might find helpful.
