Question:
I have a 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5 short bed 5Feet 5 inch bed Truck. The truck came with the tow package. We are looking to buy a Dutchmen Kodiak KD291RESL 18 Travel Trailer. We need a weight distribution / sway control hitch. Will the Curt 17500 work with this rig?

I can help you find the best weight distribution system to work with your Dutchmen Kodiak 291RESL, though there are some things you will need to know first. To choose the correct weight distribution system you will first need to find your total tongue weight (TTW), which is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to go Dutchmen Kodiak plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2017 Toyota Tundra.
The tongue weight is typically between 10% and 15% of your trailer's GVWR but you'll want to verify it by using a scale such as the etrailer # e99044 or by using one of the methods outlined in the help article on determining tongue weight I've linked for you. From there, simply add on the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle and you'll have your TTW. The ideal system would be one in which your TTW would fall somewhere in the middle of the weight distribution system's tongue weight capacity.
I looked up your Kodiak travel trailer and found it had a GVWR of around 9,000 lbs though you will need to verify this yourself. Based on that you may have a TTW in the 1,200 lb range, and the Curt system you mentioned has a 800 lb - 1,000 lb capacity and would not be a good choice.
Instead, if you wanted to stick with Curt TruTrack you would need the next step up, part # C17501, which is for TTW between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. If this does not work for you, please let me know what your TTW is and I can make a recommendation for you.
