Question:
This past year Ive installed two 5th wheel rail kits on a 2015 and a 2016 Super Duty. Quick install bracket RP56016 positioned the hitch rails about 6inch further away from the cab and towards the rear bumper, compared to Quick install bracket RP50026, thus allowing me to utilize a non-sliding hitch on my short bed truck. I will be getting a new 2017/18 Ford F250 and want to use my same non-slider 5th wheel hitch. Does quick install bracket RP56017 place the rails 6inch farther away from the cab like the RP56016 compared to quick install bracket RP50074?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Reese Quick Install Bracket, part # RP56017-53 installs its rear bar at 29-1/8 inches away from the rear of the bed, compared to the rear bar being installed at 29-1/2 inches for part # RP50074-58. You likely won't have much difference in the hitch position between these two kits.
Keep in mind that this distance is measured from the rear of the truck bed. I've included and labeled images from their instruction manuals so you can get an idea of how the rest of the system installs.
