How to Mount Bicycles to an Enclosed Trailer Wall
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
Good Day! I am looking to mount my bicycles on the wall of my trailer. Can the RA-26 mount on the wall and the conefoot holder be set horizontally 90 degrees to the wall so that I can slip my bikes onto that part of the RA-26? Is the maximum length of the cone holder 36? Thanks! You folks are always so helpful! Greg Lange

The Traffic Cone Holder, # RA-26, that you mentioned is designed to store cones that are 12" - 36" tall, and the arm of the holder is 22-3/8" long. The arm does not fold down a full 90 degrees, so this would not be the best option for mounting your bikes to the trailer wall. However, I do have a couple of alternate solutions for you.
First, you could use the Single Hook Racks for Enclosed Trailers, # RA-8. These sturdy hooks can hold well over 60 lbs., so they should easily support a bicycle. They normally mount along the top lip of the enclosed trailer wall. But, our installers have also mounted them to a 2" x 6" board with an angle cut in order to hang them lower on the wall. You can see this process in the installation video I've attached.
Another option is the Malone HangTime Wall-Mounted Bike Rack, # MPG348, which could also be used to hang your bikes on the wall of your trailer. I checked with my contact at Malone and he said that it can be mounted on the wall of your trailer as long as you mount the rack on a stud.
Keep in mind that with either of these applications there will still be some sway of the bikes as the trailer is moving. To keep them secure, you should also strap them to the trailer using a tie down anchor on your etrack or other anchor point and a tie down strap or bungee cord like # EM06658.
