Question:
What is the difference between wiring harness Code: 118467 and Code: C56040. Any difference in installation? The both look like they between existing connectors in the vehicle. I am installing on a 2016 Subaru Forester

Expert Reply:
Both the Curt # C56040 and Tow Ready # 118467 4-pole trailer wiring harnesses that fit your 2016 Subaru Forester will install by plugging in to a vehicle connector. This is located in the rear of the vehicle on the driver's side as shown in the linked video at the 2:15 mark. The Tow Ready harness installation will be slightly quicker since it has no separate ground wire to install.
There is a notable difference between these two products. The Curt harness can deliver higher current output to the trailer's lights, a full 3-amps per stop/turn circuit and 6-amps for the tail lights. The Tow Ready harness' output is 2.1-amps and 5.6-amps maximum. All other things being equal it is better to have higher output capacity to help avoid the risk of overload.
