Do Trailer Tires Have Speed Ratings

Question:
While religiously keeping tires inflated to max cold inflation and trailer load well within load ratings have continued to experience more than reasonable blowouts and separations. Have tried the usual Carlisle, Marathon, and Triangle with similar issues. Axles/Bearings/Suspension in good shape. Had strongly considered trying passenger or LT tires but I see you do not recommend them due to the sidewall construction. Trailer is a Featherlite with 225/75r/15 I do expect to be able to run 70 mph if speed limits and conditions allow....is the speed an issue? Thanks

Speed is a huge issue with trailer tires actually. Unless otherwise noted trailer tires are rated as 65 miles per hour as their max speed. Exceeding the speed rating will cause the tire to heat up and fail easier. We do have a couple brands that have higher speed ratings. The Taskmaster radials like the part # C22515D which is an ST225/75R15 like you mentioned has a speed rating of 81 mph.
The Lionshead part # LHWL304 has a speed rating of 75 mph and has a 2 year roadside assistance program that comes with it.

Another cause for tire failure is over-loading them.

I have a 2004 Triton 12 foot enclosed snowmobile trailer. It has 205 65-10 loadstar tires on it, thats a load range C. I was looking to replace them and after seeing posts on load range. C is 37 mph? Both tires are the same size but one says 35 PSI and the other says 50 psi. Can you help? Thank you.
