Bolt Size Used for Weldnuts for Installing Hitch on a Chevy Equinox

Question:

am VERY interested in hitch for 2011 Equinox. Am a little nervous about the holes being possibly rusted havent really checked. I wanted to know if you could send me 1 bolt to do the Test threading into the 6 holes after i clean them to be CERTAIN that the bolts will not be an issue before I purchase the hitch.

What we can do is provide you with the bolt size that is used to install the part # 36408 that you referenced and you can find a tap at a local hardware store to clean the threads out if you think they are too corroded.

The bolt size is M12 CL8.8.

I attached an install video and couple help links for cleaning weldnuts for you to check out as well.

Jamison, is there possibly of a smaller bolt? It appears I have M12 bolts with my Drawtite hitch but they are to big in diameter.

@JimW It's virtually impossible that you'd need a smaller bolt but crazier things have happened. This comes up so often though I'd have to still lean on it being that you need to just run a tap through it and the bolt size you have now is correct.

@JimW center fit and four outside don’t? Same issue for me. What was your solution?

@Jd He never got back to us but he will get an email that you commented here so hopefully he chimes in and lets us know. I'd assume in your situation it's also that the threads are just too dirty/corroded.
