You are within the towing capacities of your Chevy Avalanche, so as long as your truck has been properly maintained and is in good working order you should be totally fine. From the picture you submitted it looks like you have a weight distribution system already.

If you don't have a supplemental transmission cooler I would highly recommend one to prolong the life of your transmission.

The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13504, is an excellent transmission cooler and the advanced plate and fin design will work better for cooling your vehicle transmission. This cooler will provide cooling for towing anything up to a fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailer. I have included an FAQ article on transmission coolers and a video showing a typical installation.

You will most likely also need the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM, item # D13035, for installation of a transmission cooler on your Chevrolet Avalanche.
