As you probably already know, there is no standard wiring color code. Manufacturers can use anything they want for any function. What makes it more frustrating is that if they happen to run out of the color they normally use for a given function they will use something else, so they do not have to stop the production line.
Because of this you have to test the wires to verify function if hardwiring in a trailer connector. You will need to use a circuit tester such as # PTW2992 if you do not already have one then you can attach the wires as needed.
On a trailer wiring harness, white is ground, brown is running lights, yellow is left turn/brake lights, and green is right turn/brake lights.
Or you could use a plug and play style connector, # C55317 which just plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring connectors.
