Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

So managing a travel nurse's life we tow all over the country.. The Sumo spring has helped tremendously with ride level and stability for tens of thousands of miles in this first year.. With no hassle of leaky air hoses or blown bags along your ride it is by far one of the easiest ways to help support your load!!!!

by:

Not driven under load, but think it is the answer. I may have to remove the spacer. I had to have them installed, not as easy /smooth as their video portrays. The instructions do not advise as what it suppose to look like (for F350 SRW) . IE: barely touching the axel? Above the axle? The 2800 load was recommended, I will follow up after my RV trip. I want it to set level, but not ride stiff W/O a load.

You are going to want at least 1 inch of space between the bottom of the spring and the axle otherwise it will create a rough ride. I do recommend removing the spacer.

by:

The Sumo Springs work great. I have a 5th wheel and the Sumo Springs really keeps the truck from sagging without compromising the ride.

by:
2012 Mercury Mountaineer

Installed these on my 2012 Ford F-350 King Ranch 6.7
Improved the ride, even when empty.
Reduced the harshness, the sharp jarring felt when hitting even small bumps, and pot holes ! Haven't tried it with my Montana Mountaineer 5th wheel camper yet, looking forward to that.

by:
2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

I installed these (front and back sets) a year ago and they still work very well. I pull a fifth wheel and these help keep the truck level and the ride comfortable. They were one of the best things I have added to my Super Duty.

Ben C.

They work fine. Makes the ride a little rougher, but the truck likes having them.

by:
2011 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Prouduct went in just like the instructions said.

Only isuses was removing old bump stock!!!
Had to get a pipe wrench to hold it didnt have no fancy special tool... but was a piece of cake..

by:

Installed when factory bushings deteriorated. I had noticed a slight sway when towing 9000 lb travel trailer during cross winds. Once installed, sway was gone. I will either take these off when I replace truck or purchase new ones.

Sold truck, got a 2019 ram 1500. First thing I did was replaced stock bushing.

by:

Received the Sumos on time and installed them in less than half an hour. Once the slide in camper was put back on the truck, the difference was instantly noticable. The left to right and back swaying was almost nonexistent. As usual, a quality product from e-trailer.

Wonderful!

The SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit works great had for over a year pair them with SumoSprings solo custom helper springs and truck tows great even when I have 14k pounds on my trailer. An most I have ever squatted is around 2in in rear with my 2016 f250.

by:
2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Installed concurrently with Bilstein HD shocks on rear. The ride unloaded has not changed much other than the slap has been reduced when hitting a bump. With my F350, I don't have much sag with the 1800 lb pin weight of my fifth wheel, but I got the Sumos to prevent smacking the OEM bump stops on big dips and bumps. The sag was reduced from 2" to 1.5" with the fifth wheel loaded. Took the truck on a 40 mile moderately rough mountain road trip and drove harder than usual. No crabbing around bumpy curves. The truck felt like I had installed an anti-sway bar as it took the curves at speed flatter and seemed to rotate through curves instead of plowing through them. Sumosprings are recommended!

by:
Ford F-250 Super Duty

used product on f250 with slide in truck camper
originally had problems sagging in the rear and swaying when loaded
I have beefed up shocks and big ass sway bar
but still had problems with level ride and swaying
after install rear sag was corrected to level and sway side to side was much better
great product for vehicles under heavy load

by:
Ford F-350 Super Duty

These springs helped with the sag on my F350. I no longer get flashed for my headlights in oncoming cars.

However, it has caused my truck to now porpoise over bumps with the fifth wheel bouncing along.

I will probably add airbags to make it better.

by:

Because they are designed to be more of a weight bearing spring that replaces the factory bump stop when when towing my heavy fifth wheel it's a great product . I just wish It had the ability to twist lock out and install a 2 inch shorter spring when doing light towing. That is why I give it a 4 star. I don't regret installing it.

by:
Ford F-350 Super Duty

The Sumo Helper Springs were just what I needed for my F-350 and they were easy to install. The people at etrailer were very professional and they treated me as a valued customer, which is a rare thing these days.

Volkswagen CC

Recieved these quiker than expected. Will install on my Ford F350 CC 4X4 long bed with factory upper overload spring installed to support towing my Gand Design Solitude 310GK Fifth Wheel. They look to be well made and as advertised.

by:

Easy Install, I installed the front & back ones due to a heavy bale bed install & front replacement bumper. The front ones stiffened up the ride quite a bit but all have held up very good so far.

by:

Simple installation completed by 75 yr old in less then one hour....
Over the normal street bumps you get no KerThunk!!!!
Smoother ride noticed immediately.
Will follow up additional when we hook up the fifth wheel........

by:
Ford F-250 Super Duty

The springs work perfect. They were easy to install and made my F250 pull a 13500 trailer like it wasn't there. No bounce or harsh ride without a load. etrailer was very helpful too!!

by:
Ford F-250 Super Duty

Excellent product. Easy installation. Provided great stability for mounted camper on F250. The front end only raises an inch and a quarter. Would highly recommend.

  • Can I Purchase a Single SumoSpring Custom Solo Helper Spring to Replace a Damaged One
I have a solution for you, but the Sumo Springs are only sold in pairs, so you would need to purchase a complete kit using part # SSR-114-54. While failure of these is fairly unlikely, they can get damaged occasionally and need replacement, so doing this would leave you with an extra spring to use if you ever have the need to make another replacement.

  • Will SumoSprings Work With 2016 Ford F-250 Towing Fifth Wheel Trailer
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs, part # SSR-114-54 are designed to be able to cushion the ride of your 2016 F-250 truck when you are carrying loads, and should do a nice job for you.. They are progressive so they compress as more weight is added to the truck. The springs are an easy no-drill installation as they replace the vehicle jounce bumpers on your truck. Using a suspension enhancement like part # SSR-114-54 will not increase your load capacity.

Between the Air Lift AirCell Custom Helper Springs Kit # AL52215 and SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-114-54 you will definitely want the SumoSprings. The AirLifts are not a confirmed fit for your 2015 Ford F-350. They're made for Fords no newer than 2012. You can totally handle the install of the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Spring Kit # SSR-114-54 in your 2008 F-250 4WD that has the B&W gooseneck hitch installed. The USA-made # SSR-114-54 is a bolt-on kit that needs no drilling. You'll simply remove the worn factory bump stops and the replace them with the Sumos. These will give you progressive resistance as the load on them increases. At half compression they support 2800-lbs but they can compress as much as 80% when you need them...

Thank you for all of the info and the photos! The gooseneck brackets you have on your 2001 Ford F-350 look similar to the Reese style 5th wheel hitch brackets but I think we need to look at a different suspension enhancement system as it doesn't look like the brackets from any of the air spring kits we offer will match up or work around the brackets on your truck. • How Well Do SumoSprings for a 2016 Ford F-250 Work to Eliminate Squat
The correct SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for a 2016 Ford F-250 is part # SSR-114-54. The SumoSprings will do a great job of reducing rear squat while towing or loaded but no suspension enhancement system would guarantee to completely eliminate squat. That said, I really like the SumoSprings because they not only provide great support but also don't decrease ride quality too much which can be an issue for a lot of these suspension enhancements.

Yes, the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-114-54 will do an excellent job of helping to level your 2015 Ford F-250 while pulling the Jayco 5th Wheel Trailer. As you mentioned, headlight aim will go back to the correct level and you will also most likely notice an increase is braking as well as overall stability with the SumoSprings installed.
