Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Kia Sorento - Draw-Tite
All right. Today in this 2005 KIA Sorento, were going to install part number 75516 from Draw-Tite. This is what the hitch looks like when its installed on our SUV. Next well give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories such as a bar mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From top receiver opening down to the ground, its going to be about 15 inches and then the hitch sits out past the bumper and the hitch pinhole is approximately about one half inch past the bumper. Now Ill go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed.
All right, to start off our install, were going to go ahead and have our spare tire already removed.This will make things a lot easier to install our hitch. Next, well go ahead and loosen up our exhaust. Theres one rubber hanger that we need to spray down with some lubricant and go ahead and just pry it off. Now theres still plenty of tension to our exhaust. So it might be a good idea to use a small wooden block to help prop it down just a little bit more.
This will give us more working room to put the hitch into place. Now Ill go ahead and point out our attaching point for four threaded holes on the side of a frame, two on each side. Then next, we need to clean out the threads.To do that, were going to use some spray lubricant and then a toothbrush. The toothbrush well be using is part number 814092. Well go ahead and spray lubricant into the threads and then clean it out with a brush.
Then well take one of the hitch bolts and make sure it threads in okay. Were done for the first one. Well go ahead and repeat the same process for the three remaining holes. Now, before we install our hitch, well go ahead and show you how the hardware works the hitch. Well have a metric bolt and a conical tooth washer.When we install our hardware, we want to make sure the teeth on the conical tooth washer face towards the hitch.
Now we know how to install the hardware, well go ahead and put the hitch up in position. With the next set of hands, well go ahead and lift it up and put it up between the frame rails and then well install our hardware. Its a good idea to get one on each side to help stabilize the hitch, then install the remaining two. You want to leave them all loose so you can move the hitch around so you can line up the holes.Once all our hardware is started, well go ahead and tighten down the bolts and then well bolt those down as specified in the instructions. Okay, with everything torqued down we can reinstall the exhaust. Now, the last thing we need to do is go ahead and reinstall the spare tire and that will finish it for install part number 75516 from Draw-Tite on our 2005 KIA Sorento. .

My new hitch feels strong and dependable. Service is great, I would send any family or friend to etrailer.com. I ordered the wrong wire harness and the rep I spoke with sent a new and correct one out immediately. I added a light bar with left and right turn signal and brake light for added safety and visibility when not towing.

Drawtite hitch for my 2009 Kia Sorrento arrived on time and well packaged. As promised it bolted right up to the factory threaded holes in the frame with provided hardware. I installed it in less than 30 mins, by myself. The custom wiring kit was plug and play directly into the factory harness. Excellent products. Install was just as described in videos. Approx total install time start to finish, 2.5hrs incl. rxr spare tire and install Curt plugin wire harness and that was with me installing by myself.
I haven't hooked to a trailer yet to check connections, but I'm pretty sure all will work fine.

I would recommend etrailer to everyone my products arrived quickly, fit perfectly as advertised. Took me a little longer than an hour to install hitch and wiring harness, only because I did it on my own. I was to impatient to wait for someone to help me hold the hitch. Excellent job etrailer

2005 Kia Sorento . This is my 2nd purchase from etrailer (different car). Shipping was super fast. Installed very easy. Light kit also installed. I liked the draw tite hitch because it has a welded tab which will hold the trailer light plug. The light kit installed in no time. I had incased the wires in wire conduit for added protection. Plan on adding the large round light plug later. Everything was priced just right.. THANKS

The package was waiting on my doorstep when I came home today. A leisurely 45 minutes later the hitch is mounted… without a hitch (pun intended). Installation is extremely simple and straightforward. Just drop the spare tire (for a little extra working room) and mount the hitch. I do recommend a wire brush and lubricant to clean the threaded holes in the vehicle frame. Also, try running the bolts into the holes before mounting to be sure they are clean. And you might want an extra hand to lift the hitch into position. I should have, but I couldn’t wait. Now I’m off to pick up the fishing boat!

I ordered a receiver hitch for my 2008 Kia Sorento. It arrived promptly. After reading the instructions I gathered up the tools I would need and started the install. Took 15 - 20 minutes. I was very happy about how easily it installed, everything lined up as stated on their web site. Though in is rated at 5000# I plan on using it to transport bicycles for my wife and I. Couldn't be more pleased

The intended purpose was to use hitch in concert with a bike capable of carrying 130 of e-bikes. My wife an I are both in our sixties, we take our bikes to different areas to explore. Typically ride twenty miles. Hitch has preformed as advertised, couldn’t be happier.

2006 Kia Sorento
This hitch installed without a hitch (pun intended). It worked fine and the connector to the 2006 Sorento wiring harness was seamless. I have two complaint: first the electrical connector bracket where the trailer's connector plugs in is a little unsecure; and second, the receiver sticks out from the underneath of the hatch back just far enough to be a real knee-knocker. Moving it back a couple of inches would be wonderful.

I think the product is an excellent choice for anyone to use as a trailer hitch. It was not as easy as I thought to put on but I got it on o.k. . I can honestly say it does take two people to do the job if you don't have a lift as shown in your video. The package was delivered in bad shape, rips. crushed areas, and the whole top of the box was completely open which someone had to tape up with packaging tape. Fortunately there was no damage but I do recommened that you should package this item in a stronger box and wrap the item with some sort of protection such as bubble wrap. I was surprised that it was not protected it any way shape or form, it was just put in a box to flop around. I can understand how the box got ripped and opened. The corners of the end plates were protruding out of the box. Poor packing I think you could do better than that. Other than that I am satisfied.

My DrawTite hitch arrived in good shape except for a few little scratches that I had to paint !
Take my advice, either get a friend to help you with installation or let a shop do it !!
This is definitely not a one person install !!
Once the hitch is finally between the frame rails, it bolts right up !!
The wiring harness that I also ordered was really easy to plug in and works great !!
The products that Etrailer.com sells are top notch but beware, some of these hitches are pretty heavy so get some help !!

Easy to install. All hardware wash included and the holes matched up perfectly. Use the bottle jack that comes with the vehicle to hold one side while you fasten the other.

Hitch was everything I expected. Installation was quick and easy. One tip someone gave me was to use a tap and die set to clean out the bolt holes on your frame before trying to install bolts, made it a lot smoother once I was lifting the hitch and trying to start bolts. Installation was about an hour and it was very straight forward. Thank you for a good product and quick shipping.

I got this hitch to go on my 2008 Kia Sorrento and it went on very easily. The bolt holes were perfectly aligned and a little W D40 in the holes and start the bolts before putting hitch in place like the install video suggests and took me about 20 minutes. I am 68 years old and the job was a piece of cake. I like the looks of the hitch on the car, and if there were a complaint it could have been about 1 inch shorter so you could not bump it when the hitch insert was out of it. Very good product!!!

2005 Pontiac Trans Sport Van
Just finished installation, took about 1 hour by myself. I am a 70 yr old male. The key to installation is 1. clean those holes that the bolts are going into. Spend some extra time doing this and you will make the job easier. I used a teflon spray to lube the holes and the bolts before installing the hitch. I made some supports out of old lumber 20" high for each end to support the hitch so I could put in bolts. I didn't have to remove or loosen the exhaust hanger , because I had read in previous review , using an extension would do the trick and it did. The product arrived very quickly after ordering and was not damaged during transport. Very happy with outcome.

- Hitch Recommendation for a 2008 Kia SorentoFor your 2008 Kia Sorento the correct hitch for your vehicle would be the Draw-Tite part # 75516. The # 75684 that you referenced is for newer Sorentos so it would not work for you. For trailer wiring you would want the Curt Wiring Harness part # C59496. For ball mounts I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag.
