I like the fact that it’s a 2” hitch and that has a slightly greater capacity than the factory hitch. However, due to the location of my diesel’s DEF tank (no fault of Curt) the hitch hangs so low that it often scrapes the ground when I drive on steep driveways and Jeep roads, which I often do. So, if I had it do over again, I would have bought a vehicle with a factory hitch or bought a factory hitch and installed it myself. Also, I’ve had no end of trouble with the e-trailer supplied 4-pin wiring adapter. After three visits to a reputable professional installer, I still have problems with trailer lights behaving erratically. For this reason alone, I would prefer a factory-installed 7 pin setup.

Got it late evening .... was so excited that I couldn't wait til the next day to install....
Went out at midnight in the driveway and installed it in less than 30 min... bolted right on... only prep was cleaning out the factory weld nuts...Got
Having an articulating universal joint for the socket made it go very quickly..

Very good service with good business practices so you know what your getting

by:

Product installed as expected and I think has a cleaner, simpler look when viewed from behind the vehicle than some of the other brands. The quality of materials seem good. I've towed my 4'x8' trailer several times with 2 or 3 motorcycles on it. Over the years we will learn how it holds up to salt, etc.

I left the way it installed it was very easy it looks natural like it's supposed to be there like the factory did it the light plug hook up was great plug & play it's extremely strong I already over pulled it couldn't even tell that I moved or did anything bad. I am extremely happy I couldn't have asked for anything better etrailer really came through with showing an excellent product I have pictures and videos that I took of installation when I did it one year ago.but me being a truck driver I haven't gotten to upload I will try at this time now that I got the link again. Also being a truck driver hooking up a 53-foot trailers all day I know something or two after 25 years of trucking about towing what's on my mind helps me understand how excellent this product really is

2003 ChevroletTracker

I ordered a bolt on hitch receiver and wiring harness for my 2003 Chevy tracker. I was pleasantly surprised to find the wiring harness was literally plug and play. Didn't even have to disconnect other connection and add T... literally there was a factory connect just waiting for the plug.

The hitch should have been a 5 minute job. I attached the two bolts on one side and then went to the other side. They didn't quite line up but i thought i could manage... wrong cross threaded. Ruined nut. Easy fix with tap and die but not everyone has this. MY ADVISE: IT WILL BE WORTH IT TO REMOVE THE HITCH, BEND THE FLANGES TO LINE UP AND THEN TRY AGAIN. GET THEM EXACT BEFORE GOING FOR IT.

by:
2000 Suzuki Vitara

The hitch was built perfectly. My vehicle was off just a smidgen after 20 years on the road. I made a 1/4 inch adjustment (and clearing of the bolt holes...dirt and debris from 20 years on the road) and the hitch fit perfectly. I ruined one trying to clear the holes and eTrailer even sent me an extra bolt for free because. Thank you Carol C. at eTrailer.com

2005 Suzuki XL-7

I found the product to be of high quality. I have a different brand hitch on my pickup and the Curt is of a higher quality. It fits perfectly and looks very good. It blends in to the vehicle much better. I had a much harder time installing it than was implied, mainly because of welding slag in one of the holes, and it is too heavy for one person to install easily. I feel that with two people, it would have gone much easier. Even so, I like the hitch very much. I would buy it again.

by:

Very nice looking hitch. welds are good. But it is a very tight fit. Better be sure you clean all the holes in your frame and have a good prying tool close at hand. It really is an easy fit with only 4 bolts they are just very hard to put in especially if working by yourself. If I need another hitch I will buy again. The wiring hariness was easy to install also.

by:
2003 ChevroletTracker

Fits my 2003 Chevy Tracker, 3 bolts went in great, but I had to ream out the 4th hole to fit.Total time about 40 minutes. I watched the video on how to clean out the weld nuts, very necessary to do this to get the bolts in properly. The wiring harness for the trailer hitch fit perfectly, took only 5 minutes total. I watched the video on how to install the wiring harness too . I totally recommend theses products.

by:

Tracking system is great I knew right where my item was and when it would be delivered, the hitch is top of the line and easily installed the only problem I had was the bolts that came with it were too large had to buy new ones.i do recommend etrailer and will purchase again from them.

by:

Great service! The package arrived sooner than expected. I was surprised to find everything needed for installation in the box. However, the bolts were not the correct type and the holes did not match up perfectly so I did have to visit the hardware store and make some adjustments before the new tow hitch was on the vehicle and ready to roll. All in all it worked out well and I am pleased with the purchase. We will use the hitch with a bike carrier and take the grandkids biking with us.

2003 Suzuki XL-7

This trailer hitch is extremely rugged. Installed in 2 hours on my 2003 Suzuki XL-7. Holes didn't line up initially, so I bent it a little bit with my sledgehammer, as they mentioned in one of the videos. A key was loosening the bolts on the metal shroud around the gas tank, so that everything could be adjusted. Rugged, and now I can tow my jetskis around.

by:
2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Great product and super fast delivery. Only 2 days getting out to west coast. Installation was easy once we figured out he best way. Holes lined up perfectly. We found it best to put the rear bolts (toward the back of the vehicle in first) These are the most difficult ones to get started because of limited space and you can kind of tilt the front of the hitch down to get a straighter shot if you put these in first. Our hole spacing measured 34 and 3/8 inches center to center. Another website review said 34 and 3/4 inches center to center. This would not have worked on my Grand Vitari.

by:

Had to do some minor adjustments to the mounting members to match the vehicle frame weldnuts. Once adjustment alignment was successful it bolted right on.

We can definitely help you explore various cargo solutions for your trip. I was not able to find an online copy of the owners manual for the 2002 Grand Vitara but I was able to confirm the towing capacity - 1500 lbs. For towing a 3,500 lbs you would want to at least get a Class III hitch with a 3,500 lb capacity. You should note that just because the hitch is rated for 3,500 lbs that does not necessarily mean you can tow that amount. You will also need to consult the owners manual of your vehicle to check to see what towing capacities they have listed and be sure not to exceed the lowest capacity of all of the components in your setup. The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13517 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2003 Chevy Tracker. If the holes don't seem to be lining up with those on the vehicle's frame, it's possible that the hitch simply flexed/bent a bit during the shipping process. This is actually fairly common, as a hitch is designed to have some flexibility, which is needed when it is installed and utilized on a vehicle. You can flex the hitch back by using controlled force, such as placing one...

  • Cleaning the Weld Nuts to Install a Trailer Hitch On a 2004 Suzuki Vitara
The bolts that come with the Curt # C13517 will be 12mm. With your Suzuki Vitara being a 2004, the factory weld nuts can get kind of caked with road grime and debris. Before getting the hitch bolted up, it is a good idea to soak the 4 nuts with WD-40 and then give them a good scrub with a nylon tube brush, like the # 814092. In more severe cases, a thread chaser will need to be used to clear the gunk out, but generally the tube brush gets the job done.
