Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior trim or carpeting to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Quality built Tekonsha trailer wiring harness with easy-to-follow installation instructions. Tekonsha wiring harness connectors fit perfectly with the OEM Toyota connectors. Very happy with purchase.

We moved from California to Texas, and believe it or not back to Tehachapi California almost a year later the wiring on the vehicles we had absolutely no problem with it. We are very pleased with the work that you did. Thank you again.

by:

After a year it works perfect, much better than wiring kits with converters that are not powered off the battery. It was worth the extra effort to run an extra wire.

by:
2011 ToyotaCorolla

The wiring was very easy to install on my 2011 Toyota Corolla. It only took about 45 minutes to complete after reading the reviews from other customers. The power wire from the battery was the most difficult part and it was not really hard to do. The plug in connectors were a snap to install. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to install trailer wiring on a vehicle.

by:
2013 ToyotaCorolla

Installing the wireing was fairly simple, running the positive wire from battery to harness challenging.

Joe used this on his 2013 Corolla and the harness fits all Corolla models.

I received the hitch and wiring harness in 4 business days. The hitch went on in 15 minutes. It even included the ball mount which I had not realized was included. I am definitely glad I sprung for the wiring harness. Having dealt with endless connection problems from cobbled together U-haul and backyard mechanic wire splices, I really enjoyed snapping together factory-like connections. Running the wire to the battery wasn't as bad as many reviews made it out to be. I didn't remove all the interior panels as the wire could be tucked up into most of these panels without removing them, this saved a lot of time.

2015 ToyotaCorolla

Harness install was very easy and quick, less than 15 minutes. The battery wire, on the other hand, is a real bear, it took several hours and may trigger spontaneous bouts of turrets. One look at the stock Corolla tail light wiring and its obvious why it is necessary.

I wish I knew this when I bought the car, I would have negotiated a little more for the dealer to install it.

One nice thing Toyota did on my 2013 was an additional feed through in the main wiring harness grommet where it passes through the firewall. Its about the size of a drinking straw to the right of the main bundle. Simply poke an awl down the opening to make a hole for the wire to push through.

by:
2013 ToyotaCorolla

The hitch and wiring kit arrived within 1 week. The hitch literally went on in less than 15 minutes. As for the wiring kit, Everything was easy, just took some time. I ran the power wire under the car to a rubber gromet on the inside of the back quarter panel that leads into the trunk. Didn't want to risk damaging anything going through the firewall, the car has 3 miles on it. All in all I would recommend this company for great prices, and fast shipping.

by:

Installation required patienceThe lighting module was easily attached to the tail lamps but running the single power supply source from the battery to the module was challenging. I placed the car on a jack to gain access to the undercarriage and it required about three hours to route and secure the power wire and test the installation. Black tie wraps are supplied but I used longer aftermarket tie wraps (yellow and red) to easily identify the routing of the wire. Both the hitch and wiring harness arrived in less than a week and cost me nothing in shipping. Doing it myself and purchasing the parts from etrailer.com saved me over $150.00.

by:

Order was delivered quickly. Install was relatively easy. The biggest problem was where to run the wire to the battery through the firewall. Found a grommet above driver's feet that had approximately 2 inches of wires going through it. Noticed a hole on the right side of it and slide the wire through. Then went to engine compartment and felt my wire coming through a capped tube of rubber. Made a small snip with a pair of diagonal cutters and there my wire was.

After that I simply routed it along the drivers side under the trim. It fit great and after that it was just hooking it up.

I did drill a small hole for the ground as the nut that was there didn't do it's job. I put a small sheet metal screw through with a smaller wire connector and it worked great.

by:

This is a professionally designed and quality product and very easy to install. The installation instructions are easy to understand. If installing the hot wire from the battery to the trunk seems complicated to you for your particular vehicle, just Google, "How to run a power wire from battery to the trunk on a (write in your make and model here)". You should find many forums to tell you how it is done on your vehicle. This is a great quality product with a much better price than I found anywhere else.

I needed the wiring in a hurry for a trip. E-trailer delivered it just in time. It was a super-easy installation...just plug and play. Running the wire for the battery took a bit of planning but I ran it through the firewall was a bit of a challenge but I used the existing wire path as a guide. Very pleased with the product.

by:

After a year of use it has proven to be a good choice. Trailer connector lead stows away nicely. Very convenient to hook up when towing the trailer

by:

Harness installed just fine, took some time to run the wire to the battery properly following the harness from the trunk along drivers side rocker panel.

First class people and products. Installed my hitch and wire harness exactly as instructions indicated. The videos for installation of harness and hitch were helpful also. Very pleased with fit, function, appaerance. Thanks for making it easy!

by:

Relatively easy to install. Make sure the ground wire on the tail light bolt hits metal. I'd use a file to scrape of some paint before bolting the ground wire down.

This is a quality product.

by:
2009 ToyotaCorolla

Seeing the size of the wires that powered the lights on my car, I'm glad I went with this kit. Fast and easy to install, once I decided where to run cable to the battery.

by:

Running the +12 volts from the battery is the most difficult part of the instalation... The plugs are great...No wire splices....Neat... Clean mounting ....Works great.....

by:

I’m very happy with orders from etrailer.com
Received
my order in timely fashion and my parts are still in working order.
Thank you.

by:

When time is of value, the ease of installation more than pays for the Wiring Harness.

by:

I selected this product because it is simple to install and does not require splicing into existing wires. I was not disappointed. The installation was simple and everything I needed was included. All components appear to be high quality and I expect it to last the life of the vehicle.

by:

by:

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2010 Toyota Corolla Sedan
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118459, is a powered converter that requires a direct connection to the vehicle battery. This virtually eliminates the power draw from the vehicle tail light wiring which protects the sensitive circuitry. The Curt T-Connector, # 55542, does not require a direct connection to the battery but the power draw from the trailer comes directly from the tail light wiring. For your 2010 Toyota Corolla, I recommend going the safer...
