Video Transcript for Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - C55534 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C55534 this is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness. It's going to provide your four pole flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power you trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with 5 pole, 6 pole, and 7 pole adapters. Those adapters are sold separately. This product is going to fit certain years and models of the Chrysler 300, the Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Charger. Here on the four way flat connector, it's going to include a dust cap.

That way when the connector's not being used, those connection points can be covered up. The benefit of this system is it is going to connect quickly and easily, you don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. All you have to do is locate your connection points in your rear cargo area, the detailed instructions are going to indicate exactly where those points are. The side with the yellow wire, this is going to go to the driver's side of the vehicle, the side with the green wire is going to go to the passenger's side of the vehicle. You've got plenty of wiring to work with. It's a wishbone style, so right here you have the four way flat connector your green and white wires are going to be separate from the brown and yellow wires.

That's split all the way. Again, green and white goes to the passenger's side, brown and yellow goes to the driver's side. These connection points are going to match up perfectly with the connection points on the vehicle. They've got the locking tabs for a nice, tight secure connection. Once you have those plugged in, you'll need to locate a suitable grounding point and make your ground connection. That's going to be your white wire with the ring terminal attached to it.

You can make that ground connection with the included self tapping screw. We want to make sure you get that to a nice, clean metal surface. Once your installation is complete, the four way connectors are going to be stowed in an out of the way location within the rear cargo area. Then you can use the included zip ties to to secure the access wiring up and out of the way or take up any slack in your wiring. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all electrical connections like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pole connector itself to help prevent any type of corrosion from settling in. That's going to do it for today's look at part number C55534..

2009 Dodge Challenger

Super easy to install. Made the wiring a pleasure. Usually I hate wiring, but this was so easy it was no problem. 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T. Thanks for making a great product!
One suggestion for improvement would be to have some sort of holder or place to keep the 4 way flat plug when not in use. As it is it just dangles down and looks ugly or sometimes I will zip tie it to the hitch, which is inconvenient.

Dodge Challenger

I was very suspicious how will it fit and suit Dodge Challenger. But when I received trailer hitch, and by they way it travelled across the planet to reach me, I was totally impressed with the quality, ease of installation and accessories which I ordered with it. I basically installed it myself with a help of a friend, it took about 30 minutes to fix it. It really saved me as I needed the trailer to transport my bike to the race track and I didn't want to change the car.
So the conclusion, I own it for more than a year and have zero issues or complaints about the hitch or accessories. I used to travel long and short distances and in average I use it every second week. You barely can notice it when you remove drawbar so it is very good solution.

2010 Dodge Challenger

Excellent product.I installed the Class lll Curt trailer hitch on my 2010 Dodge Challenger RT Classic..Easy to install. The wiring harness is so easy even a female could install.I am just kidding,, you feminist don`t start throwing rolling pins at me.My order arrived in 3 days, and I was not in a hurry but I installed it that night.Just watch the installation video on U-Tube and go out in the driveway and put it on.One thing!, one bolt hole on each side of the hitch did not completely line up with the threaded hole in the frame very well and I had to file or grind or drill the hole in the hitch larger so as to line up the hole in the hitch with the threaded hole in the frame of the car.Don`t fight trying to get the bolt in,just make the hole in the hitch larger or oblong to line up with the hole in the frame of the car.

  • Recommended Hitch for a Bike Rack on a 2010 Dodge Challenger
I have a solution for you but the Curt Trailer Hitch item # 13465 will not give you enough clearance to mount the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # SH22B. The hitch pin hole sits too far underneath your car when installed. Instead you will want the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch item # 76145. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Challenger with included hardware. The hitch pin hole sits 6" from the edge of your bumper and the closest part of the Sherpa 2.0 when folded up is...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2007 Dodge Charger
I have everything you will need, but the Draw Tite hitch # 24815 that you referenced is not a confirmed fit for your 2007 Dodge Charger so I would not recommend it for you. It's for a Scion. You would want the Curt Hitch part # 13465. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. For trailer wiring you would want the Curt Wiring harness part # C55534. For ball mounts I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # EBMK4 . It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip,...

  • Troubleshooting Turn Signals That Do Not Keep Flashing
If your turn signals work at first and then stop, even though your turn signal is still on in your 2009 Dodge Challenger, it sounds like you have a problem with your ground wiring. You will want to make sure your grounds are securely attached to bare metal surfaces free of any paint, dirt or corrosion of any kind. It is also a good idea to ensure that each of your trailer lights has its own ground, which will help eliminate one light causing an issue with other lights on your trailer. I...
