Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the center section for the BMW Turnover Ball Under Bed Gooseneck Hitch. It has a 30,000 pound weight capacity. Now you'll pair this center gooseneck section with a custom installation kit for your vehicle to get a nice sturdy hitch for towing your Gooseneck Trailer. Now, again, this is only the center section of the Gooseneck Hitch, and it will not work without using the installation kit.

What I do recommend for you just go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year, make and model vehicle, and it'll show you the required installation kit for your application to install this Gooseneck Hitch to your vehicle. Now with the BMW Turnover Under Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch, you get the best of both worlds. So when you go to tow, the turnover ball creates a nice sturdy, dependable connection with your Gooseneck trailer. And then when you're done towing, you can actually just stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full truck bed or full bed access, and a nice clean appearance. To show you, all you have to do is pull out your handle, pull it back, and it holds it in the open position.

And then just take your turnover ball, flip it over. You have a little handle here that you hold onto, line it back up with the hole. Once it lines up, just drop it into place, release the handle, and it's locked in there. Now you'll have full truck bed access when you're not towing. They do have a pin on here.

It's a 5/8 inch thick spring loaded steel locking pin. It's on the end of this handle. So when you release it, it goes all the way through the ball and it secures it in place. Now this handle will be accessible at your rear driver's side wheel well. So if you're ready to go tow, all you have to do is pull that handle out, move it, and it'll lock it open.

Again, pull the ball open, drop it right into place, release it, and you're locked, ready to tow. They do use a nice single piece machine ball socket, provides rugged durability, and it is a square ball base. Let me just open this and take it out to show you. You can see it has a nice square ball base that prevents the ball from turning in the hitch during hookup. And if you notice that it has a corners-only design, the corners are chamfered. And the reason they do that, it allows it to fit right in there, makes it very easy, eliminates any buildup on the corners. Lots of times when you have 90 degree corners, it makes it hard to insert in there. This way, they've chamfered it off. And it inserts into it very easily. Now they do also offer specially designed accessories that we sell separately on our website. That'll make it easy to customize this hitch to fit your needs. In other words, if you also want to tow a fifth wheel trailer, BMW does make a companion hitch adapter and basically what that is, is that's a fifth wheel hitch that you can drop in your truck bed. It has a post in the middle. That square post will drop right in place. And then you can release it and lock that into place, and then tow a fifth wheel trailer. Again, that's sold separately on our website. This does come with this spring loaded safety chain hookups right here, they are built in. And this is a very simple installation. As we've mentioned earlier, does require a custom installation kit for your specific vehicle to install this. And it, you do need to cut a four inch diameter hole in your truck bed, be able access the ball, and then four 1/2 inch diameter holes for the safety chain U-Bolts to fit through. These parts are all powder coated steel, very sturdy and corrosion resistant. It comes with the hardware, a nice set of instructions. They are made in the USA, specs on this hitch again, the gross towing weight capacity is 30,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 7,500 pounds. And the ball diameter is your standard gooseneck ball size two and 5/16 inches. But again, it's locked in place for towing. Just to show you again, pull out the handle, pull it back, holds it open, flip it right over, drop it back into place, and it's locked there and you have full truck bed access. The object of ordering on line is to find great deals vs local merchants. Well my experience ordering with etrailer went like this. Ordered a turnover goose neck hitch at etrailer. I entered the year, make, model and 4 wheel drive for a 2017 Ford F-250 4x4 and up pops the hitch for this vehicle and once again the page prompted me to put the info again so I did. The product took 7days to ship out and another 8 days before I would receive it. The price of the hitch was $312 dollars. Got halfway through the installation only to discover there are 6 cross members and brackets needed to complete this hitch that are not in the box but all the nuts and bolts for it are there. After a call to etrailer found out those missing pieces are part of a kit for the kit that I order for an extra $227 dollars. So you need a kit for a kit, cross members and brackets missing from the kit, really, who does this? Really aggravated now and don't want the hassle of trying to return installed parts with a restocking fee and all the other bull, I decided to just cut my losses to get this truck rolling and purchase the additional kit. But for those of you looking for a complete hitch, Draw Tite has a complete, no additional kits for around $350 bucks. My bill with etrailer was $539 dollars vs $600 at a local merchant parts and labor. Won't be ordering or recommending anyone to order with etrailer. Very disappointed.

Great hitch! I'm a pretty avid do it yourselfer so I did the install myself and it was relatively simple. The directions that came with the hitch had all the information I needed. It works well with my trailer and the quality seems to be pretty good. It's pretty low profile while you're not using it as well. Overall very happy with it. A couple of install notes for squarebody Chevy, GMC trucks which is what I installed mine on: You will need to lift the bed off the frame just enough to slide the hitch between the bed floor and the top of the frame rails so if your truck is rusty like mine, you may want to have new bed mount hardware on hand before you start in case you have to cut the old bolts to get them out. Also, the safety chain loops land right on the ridges in the bed floor so they don't recess completely flush even when they're not in use but so far it hasn't been a problem for me. I saw that mentioned in some other reviews on here so I already knew before I bought the hitch.

This was my first order I placed with et etrailer. If one work could say it I guess it would perfect! I ordered on a Tuesday arrived on Thursday. I Placed the order got conformation and a name and contact to call if I had any issues, once it arrived I got another email letting me know if had been delivered. The installation video was perfect made it’s easy to install just followed the steps. When I need any trailer related items I will use them. As far as the B&W hitch i put it in a 2017 Ram 2500 with Ram boxes. The fit and quality of the hitch and design is what I have come to expect from B&W. I got this hitch to pull a gooseneck horse trailer. If your wondering if it will work with Ram Boxes it will.

Installed hitch looks it came that way from the factory.

Difficulty level 4 out of 5 for a DIY'er working alone. The front-to-back measurement in the bed is critical for drilling the 4" hole. The measured distance given in the instructions leaves little room for error in the forward direction. Better to measure a little short, than a little long!

As advertised, there was no drilling required in the frame rails, but I did have to remove the frame alignment tabs on both sides of the bed; Sawzall or cutoff wheel required.

In the end; it was a full day's project, but well worth the effort!

The high quality is apparent with this hitch. It is made well and thoroughly thought out for easiest possible install. The value is very high!

However the instructions were incorrect for the distance to drill the hole in the bed. It said 45 1/2” from end of bed. But It should have been 45 7/8” - 46”. Caused a slight issue for our install. I had to ream out the hole on the cab side to get it to fit. Which left a large 1/4” gap on the side closest to the rear of the bed. Most of these new truck have a circle area cast in them where the hidden hitch hole should go. I recommend centering your drill bit in that and drilling instead of using the measurements in the instructions. I considered doing that, but depended on the instructions instead. Bad choice! Not pleased with that! Further, the instructions don’t give torque specs.

I have contacted one of our installers and have confirmed that when it comes to the measurements, they recommend following the measurements that are on the installation instructions. The factory dimple is not always centered, so its better to measure according to the instruction manual. As for the torquing specifications, on page 4 of the instructions it states that once the hitch is tight, torque 0.625 inch hardware to 150 ft. lbs. and all 0.5 inch hardware to 110 ft. lbs.

Great product and design. Install is a hand full. I did it solo in about 5 hours, hard hours! Only issue is the exhaust touchs the gooseneck frame even with the recommended spacers on the exhaust bracket. I installed on a 1995 Ford F-250 2 wheel drive single cab with diesel. I will look for a longer rubber exhaust hanger, that would remedy it. Highly recommend B&W. I've had several over the years.

Received in terrible condition. One box was completely open at all borders and finish on hitch was chipped in multiple places. Product was shown as in stock when order was placed but wasn't shipped until the day AFTER it was supposed to be delivered. Two calls to etrailer told me it would be shipped prior to that date but obviously just trying to smooth over the situation. Installation was completed per instructions and watching etrailer [online] videos without issue. Only difficulty is torquing the bolts to final specs in tight spaces.

If you are installing this hitch on a RAM without the OEM hitch just follow the instructions. Everything is spelled out nicely.

My first conversion from the Ram puck system to the B&W was made in order to use their offset ball. It was on a 2018 RAM 2500 and was pretty straight forward using the four factory mounting bolts rather than those supplied with the hitch. That way I didn't have to remove the truck bed.

I just finished a second conversion on a 2019 RAM single wheel 3500. It was more complicated. I understood that this hitch was intended for a RAM without the factory hitch so I spoke to B&W to make sure the 1320 could replace my Original factory hitch. I was told it would. It did fit, however I had to drill out the holes for the four vertical mounting bolts to 3/4" so I could use the factory mounting bolts. This allowed me to install the hitch without removing the truck bed. I also had to shorten the front driver side factory bolt so it would clear the ball latch lever. I used the bolts supplied with the hitch for the four horizontal bolts because the factory bolts won't fit the B&W hitch. With the above modifications everything functions as it should.

I hope this helps anyone wanting to install the B&W on a RAM with the factory puck system.

Installation was straight forward and it's well built. Works smoothly. etrailer was awesome as usual with shipping and service.
However.... ;) on the BWGNRK1400 for '73-'87 GM trucks, the predrilled holes in the hitch for the safety chain u-bolts are 6-1/4" each way from center of the ball. This places the matching holes you have to drill in the truck bed on the sloped edge of the ribs, not in the center of the valley as intended. The instructions read as if the holes are not pre-drilled but they are, so I contacted B&W and asked if I can drill new holes at 8-3/4" each way of the ball so that they center in the next valley and they said no, that will void the warranty. So I had to do some bodywork, cut, weld and grind to scallop the ribs around the anchors to they won't always be sticking up (defeating the flat floor intent of this hitch design). I saw guy on [online] noted this was an issue on his squarebody bed as well.
B&W needs to look at this dimension for future installations to help out the next guy.

Everything fit well and bolted up nicely . Instructions could be a bit better but I done a mock up on the bench before installing. It’s not for the faint at heart a lot of heavy pieces to be installed overhead in tight spaces

Works great, except the
turnover part, the ball hits the sway bar. Install was not as easy as stated but that's probably because the kit was more of a universal fit for my truck and I had to do a lot of drilling.

Worked out … Perfect upgrade to the factory system. I hated having to remove , and place the covers in the bed. Now that the safety chains are closer to the center I can load boards and stuff that I don’t want in the trailer in the bed without having to rearrange everything. Only thing is the safety chain hoops are little thicker than the bed ribs and stick up. So it’s not totally flat..

Overall this Installation went as I anticipated, 4-5 hours; it's not for an unprepared amateur. I strongly recommend watching the Installation Video, but more importantly, disconnecting the wiring harness (from both sides, there's 3 connectors) that cross over the rear cross member above the Differential. Disconnecting the rear exhaust was a MUST DO for us (my son helped me) as is a second person. Patience was our friend during this entire Installation for both of us. The brake line that crosses over to the passenger side was of concern to me, and got in the way as well; in the end it is below this entire installation. However there is a Mount Block on the driverside that creates a problemwith getting one bolt into place; a "Fishing Spring" (spring wire that wraps around the threads with long tail to fish/thread/pull thru the hole) would have helped to get this into place. (SEE PICTURE) Once in place the head is able to be held with a narrow spanked wrench while tightening. The rear center bolt is a HUGE challenge to reach once everything is in place and you're torquing things to spec.I had to purchase a "3/4" Crowsfoot" to get this and some of the others because of things blocking access with a socket (not talked about in the video or Installation Video). Once everything is in place and Reconnecting electrical plugs we found that there was enough gap/spacebehind the Kit Rear Cross Bar, over the vehicle rear cross member, to run the driver side electrical. Pay attention to have the "male" plug facing inboard to give you enough slack to reach the passenger side plug. A couple of zip-ties were needed to keep this inplace. See picture for how I routed this and the vent tube to avoid the heatshield.

I've got a 26 foot Keystone Cougar 5th wheel RV Trailer that I be using this, along with an Andersen 3217 hitch. With this B&W Hitch I don't have the 5th wheel Rails across the bed full-time anymore of my 2022 Ram 1500DT 4x4.

This definitely is not a plug and play mechanism.
There is interference with the lever to unlock the ball and it hitting one of the bolts. I had to shave the bolt down to make it even slide by, in addition to this I had to cut about 1/4” off the mechanism lever for it to open all the way and not hit the bracket on the truck.

So in summary I had to make two cuts into the product to make it even function properly.
Poor quality control.

This is a good kit. It took me about 3 hours to install, but I'm not the fastest.
You'll need a floor jack, rope, 4" hole saw, 1/2" and smaller drill bits, drill, torque wrench, sockets, wrenches, and a impact driver would help make the job faster. Use the floor jack in the truck bed with a rope to lift the heavy plate into place. See pictures.

Great sturdy product. My used 2012 F-250 came with one and now have one on my 2020 F-250, I think it's a better product than the Ford factor hitch. The installation video is VERY helpful.
Torquing the bolts requires a lot strength and flexibility due to the awkward positions you have to get in but it can be done with patience and prayer. Just plan on dropping the exhaust as shown in the video. As is consistently the case e-Trailer's customer service is second to none. We've already used it several times to pull at 16' gooseneck dump trailer and it works very well.

This is my third B&W hitch. They are great hitches. My only complaint is the most recent one has a different latch to release the turnover ball and it is much more difficult to use. Go back to the original one.
