What types of trailer lights do I need?
Most trailers need tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, and appropriate reflectors. Depending on the trailer's size and configuration, clearance, side marker, and license plate lights may also be required. What's the difference between 4-way and 7-way trailer wiring?
A 4-way connector handles basic trailer lighting functions. A 7-way connection supports additional functions such as electric trailer brakes, auxiliary power, and reverse lights, depending on how the vehicle and trailer are wired.
Why aren't my trailer lights working?
Start by checking the trailer plug, ground connections, and visible wiring for corrosion or damage. If one light isn't working, inspect that light and its connections. If several lights aren't working, a circuit tester can help you check where the electrical signal is being lost.
Can I have my trailer wiring or lights professionally installed?
Installing trailer lighting and wiring might seem simple, but it can get tricky when you’re dealing with multiple light types, adapters, or converting from a 4-way to a 7-way setup.
