Today we're going to be taking a look at a Channel Mount Trailer Coupler for a 2 5/16" Hitch Ball. This coupler is going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. This coupler does mount on a 3" wide channel bracket. Your channel bracket is sold separately if you don't already have one. You can find them right here at etrailer.com. With this being a channel mount design, you can adjust the coupler's height to match different tow vehicles.
It does come with a mounting hardware to get it mounted to the channel mount or to the channel bracket. I have a channel bracket here just to show you to how the coupler and the bracket would work together. Coupler slides into this inaudible 00:00:36 right here, and then it has multiple holes. There are going to line up there perfectly with the holes in the coupler. You can slide this up and down to adjust the height to fit your application.
Once you have the set of holes lined up, you simply just secure the coupler in place by installing the hardware. Now, this is going to be made from a steel construction. It's going to feature a black powder coat finish on it. It's going to resist rust and corrosion. It's going to have a gross weight capacity of 12,500 pounds. You can see that it has a sleeve-lock design that's going to ensure a tight fit around the hitch ball for a secure connection.
It's also going to feature a pin style fastener that's going to hold the spring loaded collar in place around the base of the hinch socket. When you're ready to open this and connect it to your hitch ball, you will need to remove the pin right here. Now, that's going to be secured to the unit with the safety chain so you don't have to worry about misplacing that or losing it. Once you have that undone, you simply grab the collar. Place the collar towards the back here, so it just slides back, and then you can see how right here it kicks this hinds portion out to the side.
That's going to open up the socket to receive the 2 5/16" hitch ball. Once you have the hitch ball in place. You want to pull back the collar a little bit. Just enough to close the hinge, and then release the collar back over that hinge to secure it around the ball. Then of course, you would need to reinstall the included pin with the safety clip on the other side. It's very easy to use, very easy to operate. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. Taking the measurement from the center of the pinholes to the outer part here at the front of the coupler. That's going to give us a measurement, that looks to be 9 7/8" long. The distance between the mounting holes center on center is going to be right on 2". Again, your mounting hardware is included, that's going to be grade-8 hardware. Another thing I want to mention is that it does come with this pin style fastener. Now this can be replaced with a coupler lock if desired. It's going to need a diameter of 5/16", and the minimum span or the usable pin length needed for this coupler is going to be 2 1/4" of an inch. If you're in need of a coupler lock, they are sold separately, you can find them right here at etrailer.com. Again, keep in mind that that channel bracket that this mounts to needs to have an internal width measurement. Inside edge to inside edge of 3" in order for this unit to fit. Those channel brackets are sold separately. That's going to do it for today's look at the Channel Mount Trailer Coupler for 2 5/16" Hitch Ball.
