  If your hitch receiver opening is larger than 2-1/2 inches then the next step up is a 3 inch if you are talking about physical size and not capacity. The 3 inch ball mount you need is # 40701 if this is the case. The hitch ball to fit is # C40085.   I do have some great options for your 2017 Ram 2500 to help with towing but I don't really recommend using a weight distribution system on a dump trailer, there's usually not much space on the frame and the frame rails are usually rather large.   There isn't a pintle adapter for ball mount # C45902 rated for 21,000 pounds but I may have a solution for you. What you could do is use ball mount plate # 337PM25812 with Convert-A-Ball pintle hook combo # PH1. When used as a pintle hitch the capacity will be 20,000 pounds. Or for a pintle/ball combo we have # C48012 rated for 20,000 pounds but it is not adjustable. I know that falls just under the 21,000 pounds you are looking for but to go above that you would need a 3 inch hitch.

  Yes, if you wanted to change the hitch ball of the # C48012 to a 2 inch ball you would need to unscrew the nut on the bottom of the ball mount and then install the 2 inch hitch ball # C48820. They both do share the same 1-1/4 inch shank diameter.
