Question:

I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 which sits quite high stock causing a my 5th wheel RV to sit nose high also there is limited approximate 4.5inch spaces between my rail beds and the trailer. Would placing the Dexter over/ under axle conversion help correct this situation. As part of the kit installation is welding and / or cutting required

You don't want the trailer to go any lower at the front because of the limited space between it and the tops of the bed sides. So the only remaining option is to use an over/under kit or have taller suspension hangers welded onto the trailer frame.

There are 2 over/under kits. Kit # K71-385-00 is for 3 inch diameter axles and kit # K71-384-00 is for 2-3/8 inch diameter axles. This kits will only work on trailers that have double-eye springs and that have the spring stack mounted below the axle. The height gained will be slightly more than the diameter of the axle.

There is a little welding needed to install the conversion kits. The spring seats should be tack welded to the axle. A professional welder could make quick work of that.

If you cannot use an over/under kit then you will have to have tall spring hangers welded to the frame. The old ones will have to be cut off. There is more welding involved with this installation. Again, only use a professional welder for this.
