I lost one of mine cause it was made of aluminum? And that is the rod that goes from the bracket to the clap to put the flaps on?

The RockTamers Replacement Support Rod # ERT045 that you referenced is made of heavy-duty zinc-plated steel that is joined to a stainless-steel sleeve. Since we have this item in stock I checked one in our warehouse. Its substantial weight clearly indicates that it is made of steel rather than much more lightweight aluminum. This rod works with both 2-inch and 2-1/2-inch hitch size Rock Tamer systems.
