LED Trailer Light Recommendation to Reduce Amperage Draw and Prevent Converter Burn Up

Published 10/07/2014

Question:

I have a rv that I use to pull my race trailer. So far this season I have burnt up 3 taillight converters. Could it be possible Im putting too many amps to them when on the brakes? I have 4 stop lights on the rear and 2 on the side. Thanks

It is very possible that you are overdrawing the taillight converter you have installed on your race car trailer and that is why it is burning up.

The easiest fix would be to go to LED trailer lights as they put a fraction of the amperage draw on the trailer wiring when compared to an incandescent.
