Question:

Can you recommend a bike rack 2 bikes for my 2007 Lexus RX 330? I think we would prefer one that attaches to the back lift gate as opposed to a roof-type rack. Thanks!

I'd be happy to! Without a doubt, the easiest to use trunk mounted bike rack we carry is the Thule OutWay, part # TH45JV.

The rack is incredibly simple to install and remove, using 2 rubber coated steel cables that adjust with the twist of a dial. Typically, hatch mounted bike racks use 6 straps and buckles that need to be constantly adjusted. The attaching cables of the OutWay are lockable, and the rack includes an integrated cable lock to help deter theft. To see the rack in action, click the provided video link.

If you'll be transporting women's bikes or bikes with sharply-angled top tubes, you might also consider a frame adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post, which provides a secondary attachment point for the bike rack. This allows the bike to be carried level, which maximizes ground clearance.

You won't want to operate the rear wiper with the rack in place, and it's not a good idea to open the hatch with the rack in place. The gas struts that hold the hatch open aren't strong enough to hold the weight of the hatch plus the rack and bikes, and it could slam shut without warning.
