Troubleshooting Brake Controller On 2013 Dodge Ram Pickup

I have installed a new brake controller in my 2013 Ram. It is a Reese digital. It works fine on manual but is intermittent with brake pedal. From what I see you telling other people is that the Prodigy P3 is the only brake controller that will work with 2013 Ram 1500. Is that correct? What makes the Prodigy better than other brake controllers and why will it work and others wont?

It sounds like there may be a loose wire somewhere in the brake controller wiring. If the problem is intermittent, then that is a sign that something may be loose. I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains how to troubleshoot brake controller installations. When checking the wiring, you may want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993.
In 2013, Dodge changed the wiring on Ram trucks. They now use multiplex wiring, and although they are physically the same, the wire functions have changed. For all of the brake controllers we offer for your 2013 Dodge Ram, like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885, or the Prodigy P3, part # 90195, the wiring adapter needed is part # 3023-P. When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
Concerning the function of other controllers versus the Tekonsha, I am unable to say why other controllers may not perform as well. I do know that from our long list of satisfied customers that the Tekonsha brake controllers are very well thought of for their ease of installation and use, and their wide range of mounting options.
