Troubleshooting Curt Wiring Harness C56333 in 2008 Chrysler Town and Country
Updated 08/05/2014 | Published 08/03/2014 >
Question:
I installed the curt wiring harness for my 2008 chrysler town and country and everything installed smoothly. Im having an issue now where my driver side taillight running lights and the front running lightsie the turn signal does not turn on when the headlights are on. The flashers and brake lights work fine, just does not turn on when the headlights are onthe same is true on the trailer. The passenger light work as they should. What could possibly be wrong and what should I be checking? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your recent wiring harness purchase from etrailer.
This harness is a plug-and-play type that uses connectors, rather than all separate wires that need to be spliced, for most of its connections to your Town and Country's wiring. The plugs with the yellow wires connect at the driver's-side tail light and those with the green wire connect at the passenger-side.
The most common cause for the issue you describe is a simple one: a weak or marginal ground connection on the white wire. If a ground connection is not strong enough the harness may be able to draw enough power for some functions but not for others. Running lights in particular, since they remain on continuously when you drive (unlike brake and turn lights that only come on when you apply them) demand more current and a weak ground can prevent the power from reaching the harness and can cause erratic behavior.
I suggest you try re-attaching the ground wire's ring terminal to a new spot. Find (or create by sanding) a clean bare metal surface on the vehicle and re-attach the ring terminal very securely.
I have linked an article on troubleshooting and also an installation video.
