Recommendations When Flat-Towing 2012 Honda CR-V With All Terrain Tow Bar

The base plates I recommend for your 2012 Honda CR-V to use with your Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain tow bar is the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit, part # RM-521567-4. These plates are designed to give you a custom fit for your vehicle.

When flat-towing there are a few things that are needed to be able to safely tow. If you have the All Terrain tow bar with the wiring and the safety chains attached, then all you will need is the supplemental brake system.

I recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, part # RM-9400. This system has a wireless monitor for the cab of the towing vehicle and requires no splicing of the vehicle wiring.

If you do not have the wiring on your Honda, I recommend the Hopkins taillight wiring harness # HM56304. This system plugs into your CR-V tail lights. This is done with no cutting, or splicing into the vehicle wiring, making it an easy install.

You will then need to cut the 4-way plug off of the # TM783120 harness and connect it to the appropriate pins on the 6-way plug to give you the connector for the plug on your tow bar. You can use a circuit tester like part # 40376, to make sure you find the correct wires. You will want to mount the 6-way plug on your vehicle so I recommend the Pollak Bracket Socket, part # PK11771.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
