Question:
I have the Curt 56120 installed on my 2014 Edge. My trailer is equipped with LED lights and whenever it is plugged into my vehicle the trailer lights that function as taillights stay on very dim and dont turn off until the trailer is unplugged. They function fine otherwise. Can you tell me what to check or is my converter possibly defective?

Since it only takes a tiny amount of voltage to illuminate an LED what you are seeing is normal. The tiny bit of voltage present on your trailer wiring harness is illuminating your LEDs slightly.
What you can do is install load resistors on the circuits of your trailer that are dimly lit and the problem will go away. For that you would want the part # DI34ZR.
My contact at Curt stated that the small amount of power will not drain the vehicle battery since it is much a minute amount of power. You can also just unplug the trailer from the tow vehicle when parked if you are worried about draining the battery.
