Suspension Enhancement for 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss

Updated 10/22/2026 | Published 10/17/2026

Question:

Im looking for suspension enhancement for a 2026 Custom Trail Boss. I am finding conflicting information about what will fit and what wont. I was looking at either Timbren or Sumo Springs. RAS and airbags are an option but last resort.

Hey Travis! Since the SumoSprings won't fit Trail Boss models, that leaves the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T28MR. These will provide you with 8,600 lbs of load support and will fit as long as you don't have Adaptive Ride Control on your truck.

These are stiffer compared to SumoSprings so unloaded ride quality might take a hit. If you want to avoid that, I would consider the RAS # RAS58RR instead. These work with Trail Boss models and don't have the Adaptive Ride Control restriction. However, they are not a fit if you have the composite mono leaf spring.

What are you towing/hauling with your Silverado?

@TravisC thanks for the additional information! For towing your Jayco Jay Feather, I'd lean toward the RAS # RAS58RR if your truck has the standard leaf springs. It will help reduce rear sag and improve stability while towing without sacrificing your unloaded ride quality like the Timbrens might.

@TravisC For what it’s worth, I bought the Timbrens for my 2024 Silverado for use with towing a travel trailer. They do limit squat, but ride quality is horrible; especially when unloaded. I wish I would have just done airbags instead. I got these because they were cheaper, but I regret the purchase.

@Thomas thanks for sharing your experience! If you still have the Timbrens installed, you might want to reach out to Timbren directly. They've told us they're willing to adjust the springs to soften them up and improve unloaded ride quality. That might be worth trying before replacing the entire setup although it is probably a hassle.

I put the timbren on my 2024 chevy 3.0 duramax. Wish I would have done it from day one. Takes all of the sag out of the suspension and make the ride much better. Keeps the truck level.

@RichardA thanks for the feedback! Glad to hear the Timbrens have made such a difference with your Silverado, especially with keeping the truck level and reducing sag.

I have thr Timbren SES on my 2026 1500 Silverado RST. I do not like the empty ride do them butoming out. How ever in med September we were towing our 25” bumper pull from Saint Geroge Utah to Parker AZ on a busy two lane Highway A 18 wheeler of a sudden came into our lane, I had to swerve to the right onto the shoulder. Some how we missed a head on. I credit the truck suspension (the Timbren SES and the trailer hitch working in unison for preventing a rollover.

@JeroldT that sounds like a close call! Glad you were able to avoid the collision and keep everything under control. It's good to hear the Timbrens helped you feel more stable in that situation, even if the unloaded ride hasn't been ideal. Stay safe out there!

I like the Timbren product because we tow heavy trailers I have a Sierra SLT 1500 and we own amusements & concessions. our biggest trailer is a 28' cargo that we haul our trackless train in I will tell you since I added the Timbren Enhancement it has made a huge difference in towing, it is more stable and the ride is much much smoother I'm very satisfied with the purchase I will take the stiffer unloaded ride trade off for the much smoother towing experience

@BillB that's quite a setup hauling a trackless train! Sounds like the Timbrens have made a big difference when you're towing, and I can see why you'd be willing to trade a little unloaded ride comfort for the added stability. Appreciate you chiming in!

I have timbren on my GMC , 2019 Sierra. Takes the sag out when pulling a load. Only issue is when driving down road empty, you hit a bad bump, makes the back end bounce a little, other than that all good….

@DonaldB that's pretty typical with Timbrens. They do a great job reducing sag under load, but you can feel them on bigger bumps when the truck is empty. Glad they've been working well for you overall!
