Question:
Hi, I ordered a Maxxair dome fan for a tear and just got around to installing it. After installation the fan powers on fine but I notice the exhaust isnt very strong at all. For reference its a 4x8 trailer with a window on each side only. I had the door closed and the windows open just a crack to let air flow in, I could feel just a tiny amount of flow. Are these fans not meant to be very strong/offer cooling from airflow movement or is it possible something is defective with my unit? Any assistance is appreciated, thanks - Jeff S.

Hey Jeff,
The MaxxFan Dome # MA00-03812B is a smaller 6" exhaust fan rated for 200 CFM, so it is geared more toward exhausting heat, moisture, and stale air than creating a strong cooling breeze inside the trailer.
That said, in a 4' x 8' trailer you should still notice a decent amount of airflow. I would try opening one of the windows farther to give the fan more replacement air and see if that improves it. My friend has a similar vent fan in his 4x10 trailer that he converted to a camper, and it also doesn't really put off enough air circulation to "feel" it but the temperature does drop once it runs for awhile and you can tell it's doing its job of bringing in fresh air gradually.
If your main goal is stronger air movement for comfort, a larger roof vent such as the 4-speed MaxxFan Mini # MA00A04401K would be a better option for more airflow or add a USB powered fan like # PT39ZR.
Did you convert it to a camper or is it a production tear drop camper?

We installed one in a enclosed trailer we converted , it exhausts air out only , that is all we needed it for

I replaced an older version with this one and have been very pleased. I have a Coach House Platinum IV - 271 Class C motorhome with a small bathroom, so the draw is plenty to vent the small area.
