CURT C45134 Fusion Ball Mount Drop Measurement Clarification

Updated 10/06/2026 | Published 10/05/2026

Question:

Hello, I was going to purchase the Curt Fusion Ball Mount for 2 Hitches - 2 Ball - 2-1/4 - 7,500 lbs Part Number: C45134 On Curts website, this same model C45134 indicates a 2 . The photos on etrailers listing also show a 2 when installed. I dont understand why the product title listing indicates 2-1/4 . Is this incorrect? Thank you.

Great question, Carlos! You are correct that Curt lists part # C45134 as having a 2" drop.

The difference appears to be how the measurement is being taken. Curt measures the drop from the top of the ball mount shank to the ball platform, which gives the 2" measurement. Our listing measured from the top inside edge of the vehicle's receiver opening to the ball platform, which results in the 2-1/4" measurement. I would say to be on the safe side I wouldn't factor in that extra 1/4".

If you are looking for a ball mount with a 3" drop, we do not carry a Curt Fusion ball mount with that amount of drop but you could use TowSmart Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches part # TS64FR. This ball mount also has the 2" pre-torqued ball with a 3" drop. It comes with a lock as well which is pretty convenient.

Are you looking for a ball mount with a bit more drop?
