Video Transcript for Curt Fusion Ball Mount Review

Hi there trailer owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install, Curt's fusion ball Mount with a fixed two inch drop. These are available in either a 1 7/8 inch ball ball with a 5,000 pound capacity. Like we're showing off today or with a two inch ball and a 7,500 pound capacity. And this is what our ball Mount looks like when it's installed. We've got our trailer currently coupled to it.

We'll go ahead and lift that off there. So you can get a look at the ball, which is welded right onto the drawbar. So this has some cons and some positives. The positives to me outweigh the cons if you know what what you want your ball Mount to do. Set that back on there.

This is the 1 7/8 inch ball. And to me, the positives are that since the ball is fixed on there, you don't need any tools. Once you get this ball Mount it's unlike other ones where you have to torque your ball on there and periodically check the torque to make sure it's going to be okay. This one just is gonna to be welded on there. So once you receive it, it's easy to slide it in, pin it up and hook up and you're ready to go.

The other thing that I like about it being welded on here is the look of it. The other styles, where you have to actually bolt your ball into your drawbar, Their going to have a large nut sticking out the bottom here and depending on clearances and stuff, sometimes that could be an issue where it scrapes up the bottom of that. And it just doesn't look good as its appearance, as what we've got here with this, one's nice and smooth on bottom, giving us better ground clearance. And we've got that powder coat finish over everything here. It's gonna protect against rust and corrosion.

Whereas the bolt through style could potentially corrode around the threads and on that area inside. Now the con to a drawbar like this is that this is pretty much it. What you get here is exactly what you get. With other draw bars that are like a two inch drop, where you would bolts your ball onto it. If you wanted to, you could flip that over and get a rise out of it as well. With this one, you're only going to get this two inch drop position. The other thing that's nice about the other draw bars with a removable ball is you could change sizes of your ball to a different one, rather than having to get a completely different draw bar. But you do want to pay attention wherever you're swapping out balls on your draw bar, because the highest way you're going to be able to haul is going to be the lowest rate component. So if you swap out to a higher ball. Maybe your going from 1 7/8 inch ball that has a 5,000 pound capacity, going to a two inch ball with a 7,500 pound capacity. If your drawbar is only rated for 5,000, you're still only going to be able to haul up to 5,000. This here, you don't have to worry about any of that stuff. What ratings that are written on here is what it's going to be. And it's always going to be that. The only thing you need to pay attention to is your vehicle, cause you just want to make sure you don't exceed the towing capacities of your vehicle. When we're hauling our trailer, we want it to be nice and level. We've currently got our utility trailer hooked up. And you can see we're here we're fairly level. This trailer is not going to take a whole lot of load. So that should still maintain fairly level. Once we load it up, We also have a water sports carrier here. This is going to hold kayak. So it's going to be great for our getting some work done, but also for recreational activities as well. This is also a 1 7/8 inch coupler on here. So it's going to work out great with this ball mount. So we showed a couple examples here of what a 1 7/8 ball mount is going to be useful for. Let's stick a head into the back and look at some bigger trailers for what we can use our two inch ball for. And you can see some larger trailers are two inch ball should I be able to tackle with no problem. Pop up campers like this should be well underneath the 7,500 pound weight rating. And you shouldn't even be able to jump up to some of the larger full-size campers as well. So now we'll show you how to get a trailer attached to our draw bar here. First, you'll want to insert it into your receiver. It's designed to go into a two inch receiver and secure with the included 5/8 inch hitch pin and clip. So we've got that all secured. Now, one of the things I do recommend upgrading is the hitch pin and clip here to a locking one. And that way nothing can walk away from your vehicle. We'll then take our trailer. I'm just going to drop this on top. Sometimes you may have to back out depending on how heavy your trailer is. That'll just set into place. We'll latch on our coupler and then put the pin in to secure it if you've got one. We then hook up our safety chains, Now ours are hooked up to a center point here in the middle but if it hooked up on each side, you would want to cross your chain. So you'd take the passenger side of your trailer, and hook it to the driver's side on your vehicle, and then vice versa for the other one to create an X on your chains. That'll act a cradle in the event of a catastrophic disconnect to hold it up off the pavement. And then lastly just wanna hook up our electrical connection. Now we're all hooked up all that's left is to load up our trailer and hit the road. And that completes our look at CURT's fusion ball mount with fixed two inch drop..

Curt Fusion Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 2" Ball - 2-1/4" Drop - 7,500 lbs - C45134

Average Customer Rating:  4.9 out of 5 stars   (237 Customer Reviews)

7-1/2" Long ball mount features a permanently welded hitch ball that cannot be stolen or loosened. 2" Diameter hitch ball is chrome plated. Pin and clip included. Ball mount can be used in the drop position only. Fits 2" hitches.

I haul a 5.5x10 open trailer w/ a 900 lb. ZTR, a push mower, and a handful of other tools 3 days a week. It is what it is. It does the job, no problem.

A little finish wear and rust on the ball, but nothing major. I LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD, which is probably responsible for the wear.

Works just as well as it did then.

This ball mount is excellent quality. Shipping was fast and price was good. If you are like me and dont plan on switching balls out on your hitch then this is the way to go. Highly recommend.

I wasn't aware that the ball was welded to the mount. I wouldn't have purchased it had I looked closer at the pictures before ordering. Otherwise nice curt product as usual.

Easy to use, easy to store, all in one.

excellent, no problems, easy to use

Works as expected

Outstanding speed of delivery! I was expecting 5 biz days and everything arrived 24 hours later! Wow! Packaging was rather damaged but that was down to the shippers not etrailer. Top quality product and very easy to install.

Everything was as they advertised it to be.

I only use welded ball hitches; do not want to worry about the ball coming loose. For every drop height Curt makes this item. Also replaced bashed up connector mounts, wires and trailer connectors at this website. Will shop here in the future.

The hitch re-wiring job is holding up great. I also installed a pendilum type brake controller which works well also. Towing a trailer with this equipment is reliable and safe.

Just installed today, quality and finish look good, price was good. Etrailer was unbelievably fast, received this in less than 24 hours. Awesome stuff!

Still very satisfied, hitch still looks good, has pulled everything I hooked it up to. I will buy all my hitches from e-trailer in the future.

Looks like a quality product. I had ordered a 2 1/4" drop receiver and ball and received a 2" drop, but whatever.

what can I say, this part is exactly what I needed and it fit perfectly in my truck and my small trailer. And they had very fast delivery. I am 100% satisfied and we recommend the seller to anyone. Happy trailering

I have used this ball mount hauling my snowmobile trailer and boat trailer. No problems and very satisfied. The 7500 LB load capacity was the biggest selling feature. It covers my snowmobile trailer 7000 GVW. There is no other product out there that matches the quality and load capacity of this product.

Great I like that the ball is welded on. It makes it look clean.

Not much to say, it works.

Awesome website

Well made. Would purchase again

Love being able to pull the boat.

Strong material and fit perfect in my hitch. Great quality.

I only used the trailer hitch a couple of times and then sold the boat. The hitch worked fine !!

Excellent construction. Heavy and solid, as it should be. Welded ball means no concerns of proper torque on a nut.

One year later and everything is still perfect!!

Fits a little loose and a bit noisy. Quick and easy!

Product was exactly what was described delivered in 1 day via UPS. Thxs

Fusion need to re tighten the nut.
