Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

There are three different bike rack options that you can choose from for your 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. Your options are a trunk mount bike rack, a roof mount bike rack or a hitch mount bike rack.

The best option is a hitch mount bike rack because they are much easy to setup and use and they have no contact with the vehicle limiting the potential for paint scratches. These bike racks do require a trailer hitch. The most popular hitch mount bike rack among our Equinox customers is the Swagman XTC-2 Platform Style Bike Rack, # S64670. This bike rack fits Class I, II and III trailer hitches and works with many different types of bikes. I have attached a video demonstration of this bike rack on an Equinox for you to check out.

If you do not have a trailer hitch and you are interested in a hitch mount bike rack, I recommend picking up the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # 13591. I have attached an installation video of this trailer hitch as well.

The most economical bike rack option is a trunk mount rack like the Thule Passage 2 Bike Rack, # TH910XT. This bike rack mounts on your rear hatch using 6 straps that hook to the top, side and bottom edges of the hatch.

The top of the line trunk mount rack would be the Thule OutWay # Th45JV. It is the fastest and easiest to install with only 2 retractable straps and it comes with locks for both the rack and the bikes.
You might also take a look at the trunk mount option that is specifically made to avoid your spoiler, the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top Bike Rack, # HRF2-3. This bike rack routes the top straps up and over the spoiler.

The last option is a roof mounted bike rack. A roof mount rack requires a roof rack with crossbars that run side to side on the roof. If you do not have a factory roof rack, then you would want to add an aftermarket roof rack like the Inno Square, # INB117, # INTR, # INTR103. You would then want a roof mount bike rack. My favorite roof mount racks are the RockyMounts TieRod and Euro PitchFork bike racks because they are easy to use, fit many different crossbar types and they come in a variety of different colors.
