Should I Replace The Lippert 2.0 Leveling System Leg?

Updated 10/01/2026 | Published 09/29/2026

Question:

I have a Lippert 2.0 Electric Leveling System. On one of the rear jacks, the shaft from the gearbox to the jack snapped in to. To remove the broken shaft I had to dismantle the jack. While doing so the gear inside the jack would not move as if something was seized up. How easy or hard should the gear turn? Do I need to replace the jack? Most of the jacks Ive found has that shaft on them so I should just be able to it into the gear box and not replace the gear box. Thanks.

Hi Arlan!

With that gear not turning at all, I would wonder if that was actually the cause of the shaft snapping as you should be able to turn it while not under load. Even if it wasn't, I would then be worried the shaft snapping could also have damaged other internal components, causing it to seize. So if something like this happened to me, I would replace the whole leg with one of the following parts, just to be certain everything is going to work properly.

Lippert Replacement Heavy-Duty Landing Gear Jack Leg for Ground Control 2.0 - Short # LC241844
Lippert Replacement Heavy-Duty Landing Gear Jack Leg for Ground Control 2.0 - Extended # LC241845

What kind of camper are you working on?

I replaced the rear leg on my 2014 palamino Columbus fifth wheel. I didn’t think there was much of a chance to repair the existing leg since .there was no way to get to the gear assembly without tearing the leg apart. Very easy procedure. Even for me!

My rear jack interior seized… actually very slightly bent. Had it on a work bench attempting to free it. Used vice, heat with no success. Replaced with full leg … easily fit and have not had any issues since. We are fulltime so levelling system used often. Past 8months since replacement have had no issues. Hope this help.
