Purpose of Silver Clips and Installation Clarification on Van Windows Direct Camper Van Window

Updated 05/07/2026 | Published 05/04/2026

Question:

The universal awning window came with small silver clips and there is no mention of them anywhere. I have no idea what they are for. The instructions are good for cutting the hole and not much else. Do i line the clamp ring up and mark and drill pilot holes in the window frame? No mention of it. Since the screws are not self tapping i would assume so.

Hey Gregory! The silver clips that came with your # VW64FR are screen attachment clips. These are included as extra parts if they are ever needed in the future, as the screen comes pre-mounted from the factory. To install the clamp ring, position it over the main window frame and align it with the U-channel of the main frame. Once aligned properly, drill pilot holes before securing the clamp ring into place.

What kind of camper van are you working on?

It's a Nissan NV 2500 hi roof. There is not much support out thete for these since they stopped making them. Most of my parts are Universal. Thanks for the reply!
