Can the 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Mounting Plate for MORryde Pin Box # MR37ZR Work with 5th Wheel Hitch

Updated 09/24/2026 | Published 09/22/2026

Question:

Can this be used with a standard 5th wheel hitch if I remove the Anderson Ultimate Adapter, or do I need to reinstall the original plate to use with a standard hitch? MR37ZR

Hey Preston, if you were to go back to a standard fifth wheel hitch you would need to remove the 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter Mounting Plate for MORryde Pin Boxes # MR37ZR and go back to the standard plate. You'd only want to use this when using your Andersen Ultimate Adapter. What is your standard fifth wheel hitch?

I have a B&W companion hitch in my other truck.

@Preston oh nice! Yeah that's like the gold standard for fifth wheel hitches.

I respectfully disagree with the etrailer response on this. Yes you would have to remove the Anderson adapter but the MorRyde mounting plate has a standard kingpin on it and will work just fine with any hitch designed for kingpin use. All MorRyde did with this plate is to beef it up since the Anderson adapter has bolts that stress that plate and the standard plate could be deformed when the Anderson adapter is installed. I know this for a fact because my MorRyde plate installed before I purchased my RV and the dealer moved it around with a standard B&W kingpin hitch.

Jameson, I changed from tradition fifthwheel to Anderson hitch. The adapter works great with the Anderson hitch. It is easier for me to hook up and pulls great. No regrets it can be taken off if needed but only if you need to put on another camper etc.
