2019 Forest River Salem 5100 lb Lippert Axle Grease Seal Replacement

Updated 09/18/2026 | Published 09/10/2026

Question:

Hello, I have a 2019 Forest River Salem travel trailer that has 12 5,100 lb Lippert axles. Are you able to tell me the correct rear grease seal for this, or do I need to remove a drum and check the numbers? Thanks Patrick

Hi Patrick! For most 5,100 lb Lippert axles, including the Lippert 5,100 lb hub you mentioned, the Grease Seal # GS-2250DL is the seal I would look at first. It has a 2.250" inner diameter and a 3.376" outer diameter and is designed for #42 spindles. That said, I can’t be 100% certain based on the 5,100 lb axle rating alone because the exact hub and spindle configuration can vary. Does your axle have a sticker or tag with the axle information on it? If so, send me a photo or the numbers from that sticker and I can see if we can confirm the seal without pulling the hub. If there isn’t a sticker with enough information, we’ll need to pull the hub and check the seal or measure it to make sure # GS-2250DL is the correct one.

Where do you like taking the Salem, mountains, long hauls, or nearby camp spots?

This was exactly the correct grease seal that I needed for my 2023 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup which had the 5100 LB axle. It was recommended by eTrailer. I took photos of the grease seal installed and the bearings with the numbers showing so that I could get the correct seals and bearings again next time.
