Looking For Cargo Carrier For 1-1/4" Hitch To Carry 2-Piece Modular Kayak

Question:
I need a cargo carrier for my 2018 Subaru Outback with a 1.25 hitch. My problem is finding a folding carrier that is at least 27 in deep x 36 in long and comes with higher sided. Im needing to transport a 2 piece modular kayak. Standing on its end one half is 35wide x 14deep, the other half is 35wide x 12deep. I also need the license plate holder and light kit.

Hey Elizabeth, thanks for reaching out. We do carry a few cargo carriers for a 1-1/4" hitch, but unfortunately nothing large enough for what you need. The largest option is the Curt # C18145, which measures 17" deep x 46" wide, so it will not give you the 27" of depth needed for your modular kayak.
With the size of those two kayak sections, I recommend looking at a roof-mounted kayak carrier or small kayak trailer instead. Those options will give you a much more secure way to carry the kayak without trying to stand the sections upright on an undersized hitch carrier.
How much does the kayak weigh total? What kind of vehicle are you wanting to carry it with?
