Hi Clare!

I see you placed an order already, but I still wanted to get you an answer to your question.

From looking at pictures of your 2018 Airstream Basecamp 16, i think you went the right way not going with the Kelty Sideroads Car Awning - Universal Fit # KE38KR. This is more going to be for smaller vehicles or trailers and I don't think it would have worked well for you.

The Kelty Backroads Car Awning with Side Walls - Universal Fit # KE98KR you went with is larger and typically used on larger vehicles (think vans and things of that size), so it will serve you a lot better.

Can I ask you you are wanting to use it on the back door though? We have people use these on the side door pretty frequently, but I think this is the first time I have had someone ask about using the way you are wanting to.

I purchased this and used it off the back of a 1971 Hunter Compact Jr camper. Worked great to provide a covered entrance to the camper as the only way in and out is straight out the back door. There is then a separate awning rail off the side of the camper, which we mounted a Moon Awning. Wish there was a way to post a picture and I would. If you search for the Compact Jr, you can then compare it to your Basecamp.

@BryanH Cool little camper! I looked it up and I can see why you wanted the awning on the back of it. Keep having fun out there and just let us know if there is anything we can help with down the road! ^___^ Hopefully we can add pictures to comments some day.
