Cushioned Equalizer Recommendation for 2026 Jayco Eagle 24MLE
Updated 09/08/2026 | Published 08/26/2026 >
Question:
Hello, Im interested in replacing the equalizers on my 2026 Jayco Eagle 24MLE from the stock non-cushioning to a cushioning type. Im hoping you can recommend one or possibly two different cushioning-type equalizers to replace the existing equalizers that are dimensionally close. The measurement from the center of the main mounting holecenter hanger to the center of the outer bolt holesleaf spring attachment point is 4 3/4 +/-1/16 or 7 3/4 between the centers of the leaf spring mounting holes and then 2 3/4 from the center line to the main mounting hole. My axle rating is 5145lbs.

Hey Carl, the best match is the Dexter E-Z Flex # K71-653-00. This cushioned equalizer measures 7-3/4" between the lower holes and approximately 3" vertically, making it only about 1/4" taller than your existing equalizer. That's about as close to the factory geometry as you're going to get. Dexter rates this E-Z Flex setup for tandem-axle trailers up to 6,000-lb axles so it's the correct weight rating as well as correct dimensions. What's the ride quality of the 2026 Jayco Eagle 24MLE like currently?

The hardest part is removing the old bolts. You have to get the trailer up on jacks and the axles in perfect position, not too high and not too low because it'll make the bolts bind. then I had to break the nuts with a cheater bar and jack bcuz I wasn't strong enough. They were tight! putting it back together was pretty easy. 4 hours one side, 3 hours the other.

Hello Jameson, Thank you for the reply and the suggestions. As far as my current towing experience I don't have anything to compare it to, our previous trailer was a 20 ft tow behind. Overall I am enjoying the usual benefits of fifth wheel trailer towing as compared to tow behind towing. I am currently experiencing a fair amount of chucking which is in large part why I want to upgrade the equalizers and they would also benefit the overall health and longevity of the unit. Thanks once again for the equalizer suggestions, hope to order them soon. Carl R.

They are very easy to install. The first side took me and a friend about 40 minutes. The second side took us about 20 to 25 minutes once we figured it out to get the old bushings out take a drillbit and cut them and then they slide right out and then lubricate the browse and put them in very easy
