Least Expensive Way to Replace a Lippert Turning Point w/a Gooseneck Pin Box

Hey Steve! The least expensive option to replace a Lippert Turning Point with a gooseneck pin box, is the Gen-Y Nomad item # GY96EQ. It has a 16,000 lbs towing capacity and 4,000 lbs pin weight.

The Gen-Y Nomad item # GY96EQ has a auto-latching coupler that locks onto your gooseneck ball when you lower the trailer. Also included is a convenient pull cable to release the latch when you're ready to unhook from your truck.

You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. Safety chains are required for gooseneck connections and they are not included with the pin boxes. These will attach to that cross looking cutout by the Gen-Y logo.

Please note that Gen-Y is the only company that makes a replacement pin box for the Turning Point. They also have the Gen-Y Executive model item # GY48GR, which has a torsion axle type suspension system for absorbing road shock and vibrations.

Since you're replacing a rotating pin box with a fixed gooseneck adapter, you're also going to be giving up the turning clearance. If your truck has the factory puck system, I recommend using one of the following 5" Offset gooseneck hitch balls to gain some of that turning clearance back. I have listed them by the manufacturer below:

Ram - Gen-Y item # GY83XR

Ford - Gen-Y item # GY43XR

GM 2020 and Newer - Gen-Y item # GY55XR

GM 2019 and Older - Gen-Y item # GY23XR
