Question:
HI GUYS: I HAVE A TANDEM AXLE CARGO TRAILER WITH DEXTER 2 3/8 DIAMETER AXLES. I WOULD LIKE OBTAIN A OVER UNDER CONVERSION KIT SUCH AS K71-384-00, BUT MY LEAF SPRINGS ARE 1 3/4. THAT KIT LIMITS THE WIDTH TO 1 5/8. THE NEXT KIT UP SHOWS ITS FOR 3 AXLES. WOULD YOU HAVE ANOTHER IDEA? THANKS FOR ANY RESPONSE.

Hey David. The Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit item # K71-384-00 is the only axle flip kit designed for 2-3/8" diameter axles.
Since you have 1-3/4" wide leaf springs you've got two options. You can reuse your existing U-bolt plates if they're in good condition or you can replace them with the U-Bolt Plate item # CES35FR. This is a 2-pack that is designed to work with 1-3/4" leaf springs and 2-3/8" diameter axles.
You are correct the U-bolt plates included with the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit item # K71-384-00 will not work with 1-3/4" wide leaf springs. Buying the individual parts included with this kit will cost more then buying the full kit and not using the included U-bolt plates.
I recommend purchasing the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit item # K71-384-00 and the U-Bolt Plate item # CES35FR. This will allow you to remount a single 2-3/8" diameter axle beneath your trailer's leaf springs. You will need two of each to move both your axles.
What do you typically haul in your utility trailer? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

You name it, I've put it through it. Every rough ragged trail spray in fields. Anywhere a tractor can't get I go attached are photos. It has been absolutely perfect.
