Question:

Hi I am inquiring about a trailer hitch lock 2” for security on my 16 ft boat trailer when not in use. What do you have available and price. I also need 2”x10 ft ratchet straps 4 to secure my RZR 800 on trailer. What do you have available? Thank you for your prompt response..

Hi Sandra, absolutely, we can help with both. For securing something in a 2 inch receiver, I’d go with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # e98882. It has a stainless steel pin and lock housing for good corrosion resistance, which I especially like around a boat, and the covered key slot helps keep water and grime out. One thing I do want to clarify, though, is that this lock secures a ball mount or other accessory inside the receiver. If you’re wanting to prevent someone from hooking up and stealing the entire boat trailer while it’s parked, I’d want to match you with a coupler lock instead, and I’ll just need to know what style of coupler you have. I would need a photo of your coupler and what size ball your trailer coupler takes to help with that.

For your RZR 800, I’d grab two sets of the Erickson Retractable Ratchet Straps part # EM34416, which gives you the four straps you’re looking for. Each strap is 2 inches wide by 10 feet long with a 1,100 lb working load limit, and I really like the push button release and retractable design because you aren’t left fighting with a pile of loose strap when you’re loading and unloading. Just make sure you’re attaching them to suitable tie down points on both the RZR and trailer.

I use a lock that is constructed of stainless steel. Your trailer probably needs one that is 2" wide by 1/4" diameter. I use mine when towing as well as when stored. The 1/2" one recommended by Heather is for securing your draw bar into a receiver hitch . Again, stainless steel is advisable. Anything else and you will eventually have to cut it off with a torch or sawzall. Been there, done that. Sets are available so that a single key works on all your locks.

@JonB Thanks for joining the conversation Jon, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # e98882 is a 5/8" diameter. Out of curiosity, are you referring to a coupler lock?
